Mike Cooley. His tracks are always my favorites. I don't see Jason Isbel getting much love.

I voted Patterson, because of his personality -- seems to be a kindred spirit to say the least -- though his songs are my least favorite.

Cooley is a Bloor Doppelganger.

Isbell may have the most upside, and songs like "Outfit" and "Day John Henry Died" are simply amazing -- the best mix of pop-y hooks and JAIL they have.

Not to mention "Decoration Day" (IMHO their best song) "Goddamn Lonely Love", "Easy On Yourself", and "Daylight"...

But yeah, I gotta go with The Stroker Ace.

Yeah, I didn't even realize his name was Cledus until you just posted that response. I did however post a pic for those not in the know.

I'm amazed it's taken Chuck(e)D this long to cast a write-in vote for Shonna and use it as an excuse to post the pics he took with her during SXSW.

Not that I'm jealous or anything.

He might not have had a simian sidekick, but do you know why he was a trucker/arm wrestling champion?

For the love/custody of his son

That pretty much elevates him to the top until The Rock does something equally ludicrous involving being a trucker...

Patterson. He's the only one who tampers his southern-rockness with enough self-awareness for my taste.

I know many would disagree, but IMO the other guys a just doing the same thing I can hear on a (good) classic rock station (that being mostly skynard, of course).

I agree with the first statement and some of the second. I love Patterson. IMO they wouldn't be where they are today without him. I remember in the late 90's before they were as big he would be the only one who would go out and do solo shows on random nights. He was constantly working and re-working his songs and busting his ass making connections. I think he held them together during those Gangtsabilly and Pizza Deliverance days.

I don't want to take anything away from Cooley, I love the Stroker Ace and Isbell may prove to be the best decision they ever make but he's still paying dues IMO.

Patterson just always strikes me as really enjoying his success and is very appreciative in interviews and on stage. I can also see him being the first one to become active politically or for a social cause.

Oh and he's also a goddamn animal.
