I picked up a great selection of Slim Disc flexis with some lovely discs inside an A4 folder,
the blue/red sleeved discs both duplicates and are a mixture of classical music and spoken word

seven inches found in cheap bins

Image

an unholy trio of Noel Edmonds + Barclays Bank + soft rockers Home, though it's hard to tell if it's a real signature inside the gate-fold

promo EP - yours free with bottle tops from Havana Club rum

Image

Jackie Trent and Tony Hatch wrote and released this song for Stoke City F.C. back in 1972
I actually picked this up on a market stall just outside Stoke for a pound the other week.

Image

Image

These weird music for schools EP's are getting harder to find now, complete with instructions
for dance interpretation on the rear - I mistook the persephone for an instrument at first

Image

Image

Square promotional flexi-disc for the ill fated Strand brand, more info:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strand_(cigarette)

I like Viv's honesty on the label credits

a curious/religious/scarce/odd 7" from 1986

A previously unknown 7" private pressing from the mid 60's, more info: http://www.45cat.com/label/excel-services

This is possibly signed by a member of the band but I couldn't find much info on them

Chuck Berry: After School Session

Been wanting a copy of this one for quite a while and came across one for cheap this weekend. Very happy about this one.

Gardener,
Are these albums that you have been looking for, heard of, or are just taking a chance on? The styles seem extremely random. How are you able to listen to and digest all of them?

Vinyl finds about town

Image
Various bits and bobs at the re-use centre today including this which I'd not seen or heard of before.

I picked up a bunch of Xian Folk the other week from a shop closing down and went back for a few more as some turned out to be really nice and pretty scarce too,
Christ knows how I missed these ones

Image

Image

this one really hit the spot when I was chilling in my cave Sunday afternoon, a local group it seems as there was a concert programme inside the sleeve too.

Image

hidden inside another LP was this flexi-disc, which turns out to have a Christian story on it, not sure it came with the LP that I found it in

Image

Image

This LP turned out to be good, a compilation of old Listen & Move E.P.'s (I think I have a few somewhere)

Image

I could find nothing out about this album version, it's unrelated to the scarce Daphne Oram record below, I think...

Image

These picture discs were lurking in a charity shop bin, I'm a sucker for these even though the sound quality can be iffy.

If I like it I'll keep it and maybe play it on my radio show, I'll generally take an educated punt on stuff that takes my interest.
Or I will end up exchanging it with fellow collecting chums for something I like or throw it back into the wild, or sell it at a car boot sale come summer.
I don't post up everything I find, but the ones I hope will be of interest to other collectors.

I won a box of albums at an auction recently and flicking through the ones I fancied I came across a couple of nice inner sleeves
which took my eye. It prompted me to dig into my racks to see what other pretty inners I could find and here are some I'd like to share.

Image

UK mid 70's advertising - this one was in a hits compilation

Image

Image
Pye mid 60's + poly-lined

Image

Pye early 60's with LP's on one side EP's on the flip

Image

Image

Mid 70's vinyl cleaning products available at Wollies - a bit tatty but a keeper

Image

Image
This houses my Dynaflex (a kind of bendy vinyl) US copy of Ziggy Stardust

Image
UK poly-lined inner fforr Ffrr Records

Image
UK mid 60's folk/blues/jazz imprint Transatlantic Records

Image

Beautiful UK poly-lined inner came with my copy of White Light White Heat

Image

Image

French poly-lined for RCA Records

Image

Image
Ciggie advertising from an Indian album

Image

Lovely late 50's/early 60's US inner for Liberty Records

Image

Image

This is probably my favourite inner - US London/Deram Records from the late 60's

Cousin of a friend moved into a new house and said they had a box of "crappy old country records that no one probably wants," but they knew I collected records so was welcome to them if I wanted as long as I'd take them away.

Turned out to be a couple hundred records, about half of which were pretty crappy, but also about a dozen old Elvis records, including early pressings of his first few, a couple Carl Perkins records, Jerry Lee Lewis, bunch of old rockabilly stuff, a stack of Ventures and other early 60s instrumental records. Also a copy of Waylon Jennings: Honky Tonk heroes and a few more classic country albums. A half dozen or so oldies collections that have a ton of good stuff on 'em. A Danny & the Juniors record, some Springsteen. Still sorting through 'em all. Not a bad haul for nothing. Mix of originals and reissues, no outer covers so some of the covers are a bit worn but they seem to have been stored well and the records themselves are all in fantastic shape with many looking barely played if at all. Here's a shot of one of 'em spinning:

bits + bobs found out + about

Image

The eternal question is finally answered and it involves Wagner and volcanoes.

Image

Image

Fully signed (I have to assume as there were 5 of them - I checked, one signed it twice) debut 7" by Dorset's finest

Image

Image
A suitably grim sleeve for this Robert Wyatt 7" I'd not seen before.

Image
I picked up several original cast soundtracks from the 60's in an auction lot like this one.

Image

This beautiful blue vinyl LP which comes with the full book of the title inside the gate-fold was a kind present.

Image

Some nice Library records found in charity shop bins - mixed in with the classical records which is why I assume they were still there.

Image

Image

Image

One extreme to the other, three of these albums were in the same box!

Image

From Summer Camp in 1972

Image

to Concentration Camp in 1945

spoken word in 1975

Image
Thrash metal madness in 1988

Image

I couldn't resist this 50p CD lurking in the racks

lovely music from the early 70's TV show

Image

British Railways buffet car announcements, I have a soft spot for this LP as in another life I used to be a train steward, so remember these well

recent finds in boxes under coats in charity shops

Image
French album of Portuguese guitar music - alright love, it's not that bad.

Image
One of Lenny's old stand-up shows released in 1974 on Phil Spector's own label, Bill Hicks must have been a fan.

Image
Billy Butlin eating a childs hand on the front of this LP from 1971.

Image

Late 60's folk album which could easily pass for a Belle & Sebastian sleeve.

Image

Image

He didn't make many records but the B side of his debut is one of his best.

Image
I can only assume 'hilarious boners' meant something else in the 60's.

I can't help picking up these promo advertising discs and although this one does feature ABBA & M*A*S*H on one side,
it does have the dreaded New Seekers doing a hits medley on the flip.

Image

Image

Image

Best find of the week by some distance was this 7" - I'd never even seen a RZ demo in the wild before
and luckily I had an original company sleeve for it, I do have a box especially for such occasions.

Image

Image

like I need any more, I still couldn't resist these 50p CD's.
