Post some pics soon, but suffice to say I'm now epileptic. Its about as out there as you'd suspect, and lasted about 45 mins. Songs were excellent paired with the visuals. Danny Perez said he wanted to make the audience feel anxious, and there are definitely some points where you feel that.
As for the Q & A some things were divulged:
1. This is only getting a DVD release, probably sometime September. The band and Danny Perez feel it needs to be seen/heard together. Though, they aren't naive and realize what "kids can do with computers these days".
2. ODDSAC means nothing. Its strictly a design element. They liked how it looked in caps. However, at one point it was used to describe gummy worms/bears/etc and there was a planned gummy sculpture segment, but it didn't come to fruition.
3. Someone asked if there were segments devoted to certain bandmembers, and there were not. Perez cast band members as he felt inclined.
4. Visuals were shot first, and then music written. Though, they kept kinda flip-flopping whether this was the case.
5. Geologist saw Beetlejuice at the Senator when he was a kid, so he said this was amazing for him.
6. Shot in Maryland, PA, and upstate NY (which elicited loud boos for some reason).
7. Almost every vehicle in the parking lot had a Grateful Dead sticker on it. Mine included with a Jerry Garcia handprint sticker on the window.
8. It was shot SD and edited as such. When it started going to festivals, etc they had to up-convert it to HD. You can definitely see some digital archiving during abstract moments.
9. Don't know if I'll eat marshmallows around the campfire this summer.
10. Danny Perez said, "[the film] is like Big Lebowski". He likened it to the fact that you didn't need to watch it front to back, that you could pop in at any moment and be sucked in.
