okay, you know the rules. I'm going to go blow some money at Virgin. I'm probably buying 6 records total. If they're in stock, two are going to be Arcade Fire and Animal Collective's "Sung Tongs"

You know what I like. Recommend me another 4.

My top five this year:

TVotR
Brian Wilson
Razorlight
Franz
Walkmen

If you haven't gotten Blonde Redhead yet, it's a must own. Also, Electrelane and The Mendoza Line are really good.

actually I'm going to Tower, because they have lower prices on Arcade Fire and Sung Tongs. Can't get to a mom and pop today.

Most of the stuff I've liked this year has been singer songwriter or world music which I don't really think is your thing.

so Hoodoo Gurus "Mach Shau" which I think you'd dig but probably won't find or

The New Year "The End is Near" which may be too mellow for what you're looking for.

You can sample a New Year mp3 here and decide for yourself.

Well, if you're gonna have an attitude about it... Anyway, Blonde Redhead is my No. 1 of the year, so I don't see how I can suggest anything to you for the rest of the year.

The Mendoza Line sound like the New Pornographers with some twang. They do however have some slow songs.

Electrelane is a female bluesy rock group with some Non-English vocals.

Something by the Pixies. They're very talented.

Hoodoo f*cking Gurus have a new album out? I haven't heard anything from them in like 15 or so years!! I liked them back then, am I likely to like them now? Have they progressed?

The Changes are playing with them at The Empty Bottle in Nov.

They are raving about The Futureheads album. I don't know if On The Speakers has released an ablum this year or not, but they impressed me when I saw them live. Get the new Bjork.

Okay, most of your recs WERE NOT THERE. I was pissed. I finally ended up with just the Arcade Fire, Animal Collective, and a last minute Of Montreal.

So far, I'm pretty meh on this Of Montreal, but I'm hoping I'll warm up to it. I liked Aldhils Arboretum but this just doesn't seem to have an edge.

You know, Virgin is not bringing it lately. They never seem to have anything stocked. The Tower on Wabash will surprise you from time to time... but I find that cduniverse.com never disappoints... and they get it to you in two days.
