in Lafayette, IN. If you're ever heading that way stop at Downtown Records.

Good luck with that. I hope it works out but opening a record shop in this day and age sounds like a sure fire way to go bust.

And can you imagine going to the bank and asking for a business loan for a record shop? Security would have marched you out the office before you'd even sat down! I always wanted to have my own record shop but I worked out you'd have to sell something like 40 CD's a day to stay afloat.

Yeah, I don't know how long it'll last. Especially since it's in Lafayette, IN a city of about 60,000 people and 2 record stores already. They actually bought some 8,000 records off of a guy for $2,000 bucks and leasing space in that area is cheap. It'll be interesting, I really would like to see them do well, but I've got a bad feeling.

True in most cases but not in all.... the record shop I work at has only been open for 5 years and has been increasingly turning profits since it opened.

But then again it's a) run by an ex-accountant, and b) is the best record store ever.
:)

It's all about specializing in something.
Imports, jazz, out of print stuff, vinyl....

How far off I65 is it? I drive thru the whole state of IN on my way to cincy.

Not too far. Just a couple of miles. It's hard to read the flyer I was emailed, but the address appears to be:

21 S. 10th Street, Lafayette, IN

But I'm not 100%.
