Apparently, the LOOG Central concept violated Google's terms of use, so we won't be able to continue with that exact plan. HOWEVER, what we CAN do to share the music we want with each other, is to simply send it from one of our personal Gmail accounts to another. Most of us already have a Gmail account, and there are plenty of invites available to get an account to any of you who don't already have one.

So, if you'd like to participate and you already have a Gmail account, simply post your Gmail account name, like so:

It's as easy as that! It's not centralized, like LOOG Central, but it does achieve the same objective.

Of course we should continue to seek other file sharing possiblities, since email is kind of annoying. Maybe there's a way to set up a private filesharing network we could all access by some means.

We could always set up an ftp server, but that costs money. There's also DC++, but I don't think it works for Mac.

I don''t have a gmail account because no ones invited me but I do have a 1GB Gawab account. It's free and you can get one at www.gawab.com. I don't use mine much though because it's apparently Arabic in origin and the flash ad's in Arabic script freak me out.

Maybe we can set up a Waste network. It's private and encrypted. You can share files and chat over it. No centralized server, just all our computers talking to eachother.

EDIT: But this might be too much of a hassle. Probably not a good idea.

OK, I just downloaded WASTE, but can't figure out how to get it to work. Could somebody smart figure this out for the rest of us tardos?

i downloaded WASTE too, but we may have to have haq walk us through it . . . i'll try to work on it tomorrow.

Here's a help guide for WASTE. I don't know how good the guide is. I haven't used WASTE at all yet, and can't since I'm not at Windows at the moment. Apparently it doesn't totally work on Linux.
