I get invites all the time and refuse to do it. I have a shitty, obsolete cell phone and fucking hate text messaging. If I am sitting at my computer why would I tweet when I can waste an hour on facebook doing the same quizzes Fuck You Dave and Boner Pills are doing.

I understand it in terms of following news, etc (ie how it's helped in Iran) but it's not for me. I am too impulsive and will spend my life recording and talking about events without actually living them. I'd rather stay focused in the present.

In terms of deriving the greatest benefit to humanity with the least effort made then unplugging Twitter would probably be the way to go.
