i actually think kerry will win more than 270 ec votes. i think most polls are on the conservative side for kerry, plus the redskins lost yesterday, so you know what that means!

Kerry will barely win. Lawsuits will follow.

One or the other poor candidate will win decisively.

If voter turnout is high, Kerry will win by a landslide. If the kids decide to stay home and watch MTV, it will be close.

Nobody is going to know the outcome for weeks, if not months.

what worries me is these tactics going down in florida, new mexico and butt-fucking OHIO by republicans to eliminate voters. voter challengers within the polls? doesn't that just ring of constitutional violation?

Up until the Voter Rights Act of the mid '60s this kind of scare tactic was quite common.

More proof that this country has regressed greatly in the last 4 years.

If Kerry wins the Electoral Votes, yet GWB wins the popular vote, will those from four years ago stand and be counted as saying that the Electoral College is unfair or a sham, or will they be too busy thumbing their noses and sticking out their tongues?

At least you're honest.

I for one, love the Electoral College. Either way it goes.

If Bush holds on in Wisconsin and picks up either Ohio or Pennsylvania... it's gonna be a real quick night.

in this scenario i'm going to remain silent and happy, then after i know it's in the bag for kerry, i'll continue vocalizing my opinion that the electoral college is outdated & either a pure popular vote should be taken or each state split votes by popular vote. Anything more resembling reality than what happened in 2000.

I want election by popular vote, period.

The Electoral College was established before mass communication, when states had not cohesed into a nation ,and before the average citizen had a true grasp of democratic process. The days of not trusting the majority to vote "properly" are long gone. The Electoral College is a major reason the political process continues to be so entrenched in corruption and two-party bullshit. So long as there are means in place to ferret out and discourage voter fraud and voter buy-out, I'm all for a straight-forward majority vote election.

But then, I'm one of those losers who likes a flat tax, too.
