Saw CP in a small club last night. Gotta admit, I wasn't 100% on leaving the warmth of home on a frigid Wednesday night, but goddammit Chuck was ON.

I've seen him before, but last night was one of those special evenings. Chuck was loopy for whatever reason, and his between-song banter had people rolling. A story of recording in Mexico City ("with equipment that was state of the art... at one time, possibly during the Eisenhower administration") would digress into a rant against cable news ("after a gig in Washington a dude came up to me and said he worked at CNN and so I have it on good authority that Anderson Cooper shaves his nuts and wears bikini briefs") and somehow almost bend back again to the original point.

On top of Chuck's talkative state, the band was incredibly tight. I've likened CP to Britt Daniel before, in that both seem to have been born with guitars in hand - and last night CP shred it up. They hit pretty much every song I could've asked for (with the exception of "Credit", damn), and even tossed in a rocking, comedic version of Alex Chilton's "Bangkok" during the encore.

The tour heads down the coast now, I believe. Seattle and Portland next. And it's all small venues. Definitely go see if you can. Brave the cold.

Awesome, I'd love to see him live at some point. Probably not here though.

I've really fallen in love with Let Freedom Ring! the last couple weeks. Would love to see CP at some point.

It was kinda like this... if the entire band was standing on a kitchen table:
