Tomorrow marks two months since the decision was made to get a divorce, while Sunday will (would?) mark the 18th anniversary of my wedding day. Neither seems appropriate to commemorate. The past two months have been a pretty discouraging limbo with things not having really progressed all that much from then to now. It would be nice to have some final closure and be able to move on with life, but it doesn't seem like that's necessarily imminent. I'm hoping it gets done before the kids start school again. The uncertainty weighs me down, as does the loneliness. I rationally know I won't be alone forever, but it's hard to see the eventual reality of that right now. I'm not overwhelmingly depressed, but I sure as hell ain't happy.

Not really sure why I felt the need to post that, other than just wanting to vent and clear out some of my internalized emotions. Thanks for letting me have my little emotional barf here. I hope none of the chunks splattered on anyone.

Exciting news: I JUST GOT AN APARTMENT!

Move in on August 1. Limbo is fading...

i'll have a bed and old beat-to-hell recliner for the forseeable future

Without furniture, I suppose overnite visitations with the boys, for the foreseeable future, will be referred to as "camping trips".

Bring your sleeping bags, Little Blands. Dad's taking you on an adventure.

You have no idea what a coincidence it is that you mentioned this, as my plans are to set up a tent in the living room, so they can come "camping" over at Dad's. Makes it a pseudo-adventure for them, and saves me the cost of having to rent a bigger place and buy more beds, etc.

1. Living room camping will be fun. Roll with it 100% and they'll follow your lead.
2. Time with Dad will be fun, no matter the scenery / furniture, because it's not about that stuff, it's about being with Dad.
3. Stay uber-positive and keep up the old routines as best you can and all will be well.

<--- Veteran of "Weekends With Dad" ever since I was 5. Mine knew just enough to get by. He was smart in one regard: he played to our strengths. We had mechanics in common - we loved to tinker. So he slowly built up an arsenal of projects that we worked on together, and I looked forward to it every week in a way that probably made my mom (who was left with the humdrum business of actually raising me, getting me clothed and fed, school, etc) jealous. So get a gently used 66 mustang fastback with a workable 289 in it, some bb guns, and some 4 wheelers and watch the magic.
