Considering the rise in the North American divorce rate manifests as much from the failure of second/third/fourth marriages -- i.e. people who are "not the marrying kind" are still getting married, for myriad reasons, ranging from social expectation (morallists in the Newt Gingrich mold, though few so craven as he) to liking a big party (Kim Kardashian in the exemplar here, but even I must admit, "Charles & Di, you had a great wedding, & I'm-a let you finish, but the Kardashian-'Ye nuptials will be the best wedding EVAR") -- I have to think, difficult as it is to believe, that Rapin' Rod's marriage has a better chance of surviving than any of the Obner second/third marriages. Which, basically, means nobody has it right. & maybe TOOKS as well. (We shall see on that.)

got bored and decided to go searching for this thread - hard to believe it's been 7.5 years! my 2nd wife and I just celebrated our 6th anniversary together last week (5 years married as of 7/20). it's certainly not a perfect marriage - better than the 1st in many ways, but not so in others - yet I think we're both happy, for the most part. I am steadfastly adhering to my earlier declaration that there will be no 3rd wife. this is the last tango - if it doesn't end up working out, I'll be fine on my own. who knows what the future holds, but things are ok right now. hope y'all are doing well, and thanks for letting me indulge my slightly ill-advised trip down memory lane...
