man, this was some prescient shit right here - that first year alone in my apartment was as lonely and depressing a time as I've ever experienced. really glad to have made it through to the other side...

im actually surprised this story has received this much negative reaction. i'm just curious what the opposers would have done if they were in my situation.

I had forgotten ALL ABOUT robotboy's story! Interesting revisiting it now given the current climate, as opposed to back in 2010.

a significant number of people enter a second or marriage 'on the rebound' of a first or second divorce. Often the people concerned are vulnerable; they do not allow sufficient time to recover from their divorce or to get their priorities straight before taking their vows again. They enter their next marriage for the wrong reasons, not having internalized the lessons of their past experience. They are liable to repeat their mistakes, making them susceptible to similar conflicts

There is a lot LOT of truth in this. I'm not sure I'd go so far as to say if I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't have gotten married a second time - BUT, in retrospect, I do think it would have been better if I'd had a bigger gap of solo time between the two. One thing (well two, technically) is my stepkids are THE BEST - they've enabled me to have a deeper paternal connection in many ways than I've been able to have with my two children, due to the autism. I have a really great relationship with my sons - especially my youngest son, who is much more "mildly" autistic than his brother, but my stepson and stepdaughter have helped enrich my parental experience beyond what I had known before.

This is indeed a crazy thread. I wonder how many people have a record like this of their quick, off-the-cuff thoughts organized by topic, going back 13+ years.

I found it to be a quite interesting chronicle of that tumultuous time in my life, for sure.

I actually think only having Facebook as an outlet has lead to the decline of my online social life. I was much more free here to share more personal stuff. I hate getting even remotely personal on Facebook.

Stace is right, tho. I could be any old jerk in here, but on FB, I'm actually me. My boss liked a post, and we have tons of friends overlapping ... that's a whole different game.

I’ll tell you what I can say and that is that I was fired today because I confronted someone at work, a guest, not an employee, because she called someone on my staff a ni**er bitch. My immediate supervisor is out on maternity leave. I have had no complaints about my performance for 5 years. Tons of cards and letters thanking me, etc.

This guy has had it out for me for a long time. Could it be that I know he was masterbating in the bathrooms during work hours? How do I know this? Three women told me. He went to the bathroom and forgot to turn his Bluetooth speakers off. They listened to the moans and grunts from the porn he was watching on his phone in the bathroom. No one said a word. It happened again one week later.

All three women protected him. Oh, that’s just so and so. One of these women is a self defined person of the people, always protesting everything. Again, not a word to HR.

Yeah, and I got fired.

It was fun while it was fun. Sure going to miss my staff, though.

Obner, at its zenith, always had some similarities with middle school. Those sitting at the goth table in the corner....

Ayah, that's nuts. Seems like there might be some legal remedy.

I've checked Obner every 8-9 months or so. Twice this week because of this thread. Facebook and the other digital tentacles of the uber-corporatist-algorithms are choking what's left of human will.

Now, can Radcliffe give us his quality pith...

it's just AWFUL that this happened to you! I would think this definitely calls for some form of legal intervention...

I've been fired for being too awesome loads of times. Just try to emulate The Littlest Hobo. "There's a voice, keeps on calling me. Down the road it's where I'll always be...."
