This qualifies as a standard bearer for one of the best of '11. My only word to describe it is impeccable!

KMAG YOYO is a reminder that country music is not dead yet, despite Nashville’s best efforts to smother it in hair gel and software plug-ins.

One of 4-5 records from 2011 I can't get enough of.

I've only heard Kmag Yoyo when Hayes Carll was on Mojo Nixon's show where they basically played the entire album. I need to listen to it without Mojo Nixon interjecting between the songs.

Loved all his records so far, will pick this up Tommorrow. Question-Is there a song on it as good as "Bad Liver and A Broken Heart"

This has me curious as I've really been disinterested in most of the country/Americana I've heard lately.

Other than than the Dylan-esque opener (which kicks btw) it took a couple of spins to hit that sweet spot.

I'm not fully imersed in this yet but based on the couple of spins I've given, it's a pretty good one.

BTW, the cover made me think it was dog fucker music for some reason.

in no particular order . . .

Hayes Carll - Kmag YoYo

Phoenix Foundation - Buffalo
(D-Marco turned me onto this band from Wellington, New Zealand who've apparently been making records for years. A bit downbeat, but hitting all the pop "sweet spots". After several spins, this has turned into a big WOW)

Destroyer - Kaputt (This 80's trip down metamucil lane is the first thing I've liked from Mr Bejar.)

James Blake -s/t (Wifey has been playing this one quite a bit) It's an interesting collage of samples/piano/bass loops/synth and his voice/songs. I really have no idea who or what to compare it to, but it's quite good for late-nite come downs.

Robert Pollard - Space City Kicks (more of the usual fare)

Jonny - s/t (Norman Blake/Teenage Fanclub and the guy from Gorky's Zygotic Mynci)

Anything you can recommend Bill ?

Bobo, with our similar sensibilities, the answer is, YES!

Brad Jones produced it. 'Nuff said.

It's the new PPDD

I'd heard about this, and tried to get it, but it's being released today. Instead, I got this one Image for $8. Got it home and was blown away by its rich sound- couldn't stop playing it. The second song (It's A Shame) slays me. Can't wait to hear KMAG YOYO (Kiss My Ass Guys, You're On Your Own).
