The pain is in the lower back on the side where the stone is, but radiates to the front as well.

Yes, buckled over and writhing type of pain.

Woke up in pain today thinking it could be a muscle spasm or a kidney stone. Turns out it is the latter. It reminded me of this thread. 4 mm and it is supposed to pass today.

It's been 17 years since my kidney stone, and I still remember it vividly - BY FAR the most severe pain I've ever experienced in my life. Hope it passes soon, and as painless as possible, Kit!

Dang, I hope you passed it without too much pain or trouble. The one in 2012 was the last one I had, so I am probably due for another one any time, despite me taking supplements (that are supposed to help), watching my diet, and drinking quite a bit of water.
