Less Jew, more barbecue -- Texan.

& speaking of country-folky-Texany goodness, how 'bout Dirk rocking the eff out on the tambourine at the Avett Brothers show?

(Saw the clip on Deadspin. It's a long way from the Hoff. (Which, I think Dirk should have embraced, like Justin Turner of the Mets using "Call Me, Maybe" as at-bat music.))

Saw a tweet from Dirk someone had retweeted stating he was on his way to that show, but didn't know about his Laurie Partridge-inspired solo.

I've now lost exactly 60 pounds. 2.1 more, and I'll be in the 200s (well, 290s, but still...).

Commence heaping of praise now.

Your lost weight could almost see-saw with Squirrrgle.

& is 50% greater than mine. (259 to 218.)

How has it been? Steady every week, or something some weeks and none others? And have you changed what you're doing? I'm really curious about the mechanics of it.

Great work Bob! Keep it going. The summer months are a great time to melt it off.

Was super fast the first couple of weeks. Had a couple of very stagnant weeks here and there along the way. Progress of late has been much more incremental, but remains fairly steady. Every now and then there will be a minor uptick, but those are quickly eliminated.

I've been tracking what I eat, in terms of caloric intake, the entire time. I was extremely stringent about it early on, but now have settled into a more functional/reasonable daily routine. While I don't go completely off the rails on the weekends, I do allow for some flexibility (such as drinking diet soda, whereas it's pretty much exclusively water during the week). I've also gotten confident enough in my own willpower and ability to readily identify appropriate menu choices when dining out that I now allow myself to take the weekends off from having to track/enter every single thing.

That enables me to accompany the future second Mrs. FT to local non-chain/mom & pop restaurants who don't provide nutritional information. It's much easier for me to track calories during the week when I can reference readily available nutritional information, as opposed to having to try and track down estimates/approximations from a variety of conflicting diet-related websites (which are often wildly inaccurate).

The one thing I really haven't been as consistent about as I should be is exercising. I still try and get up to walk 2+ miles before going to work, but now it's only happening maybe 1-2 times per week, instead of the 4-5. As it keeps getting hotter here, and as I'm about to move (the future Mrs. FT's casa is about 30 miles away), that will continue to be a significant challenge.

Keep it up Bob. Great work man. I'm envious of your determination... My wife just borrowed from her cousin some Insanity DVDs and we're supposed to workout together, and that's going to be fucking terrible. I haven't worked out since before my wedding and that was only half-assed.

Just keep up the walking and stay off the soda and you'll be healthier than 80% of the country and every single person who lives in Texas.

And congrats on the whole new Future Ex Mrs. Fractured Take deal. Good on ya, (slightly less) Fat Boy!

The thing of it is, I haven't done any exercising more intense than walking at a moderate pace (barely even enough to qualify as "brisk"). And even that has been sporadic as best. At some point, I'll probably need to hit the Insanity or P90X or somesuch, if I ever want to end up with something approximating abs.

Not that I wish ill on your romance, but the talk of a second FEMFRAC has me curious: who is the Obner with the most divorces? Has nobody hit three or four? If we count (formal) engagements, does Prince of Darkness match nobody? Is there a trial marriage, fresh out of high-school, "haunting" TOOKS? Is Elvis Fu actually a flim-flammer with an ex in each town he's played? (Oh, & on the women's side, what of Ayah? & XIX? Do their entanglements trump even nobody -- &/or POD?)

Finally dropped that additional 0.8 I've been trying to shake for the past week or so, and have now officially lost 70. Would like to pick up the pace somewhat, as I'm now within striking distance (17 lbs.) of my initial goal. Once there, I'd like to drop another 25.
