I figured you'd have a Kooper album on yr list, Billy. I just guessed it to be Super Session though.

Well according to AMG Yellow Princess was released in 1969, and whether or not that's correct, I'll just go with this as a substitute:

Silver Apples - s/t

The date of recording and release is disputed by various sources. The Fahey Files states it is believed to have been recorded the spring of 1968 and released that summer. Unterberger cites a 1969 release date in the Of Rivers and Religion reissue liner notes.

Interesting.

Yeah I definitely remember questions about its release date in previous threads here.

Its just crazy to me that no one has definitive evidence of when it was released. Boggles my mind in our information-overload world we live in.

I have and suppose I like Super Session but I'm not a huge fan of it. It's a bit too jammy for me to truly love it. That Kooper album though and the Blood, Sweat & Tears album are really great. If I were to pick an album for Bloomfield for 1968, I'd have gone with Electric Flag over Super Session too. What a year for Kooper too as you can also give him a lot of credit for Odyssey & Oracle ever getting a U.S. release

1968 was really a great year though. At least 8 albums (Big Pink, O&O, BS&T, Ghetto Music, Silver Cyles, Kinks, D&C, & JB Live at the Apollo II which hasn't even been mentioned yet) made my top 100 the last time we did listmania. There are many others that might have.

Also, damn 3 Brazilian albums mentioned already none of which were by me and If I were to pick one for '68, I would have gone with Gilberto Gil which hasn't been mentioned yet.

Yeah, I think back when Os Mutantes were getting back together/reissued is when I got interested in the scene. I think I even consulted you and you pointed me towards Tropical Truth by Caetano Veloso. So, that compilation from 68 was really instrumental in me getting into that music/enjoying it.

I had that Gil album among my first grouping, but had to whittle it down to 6. It had to go to make room for the Bonzos.
