Feeling like hearing some "weird" tunes today I guess

After hearing the new AC a few times now, they've all but left the ambient psych behind on this one. Sounds like Avey Tare is running the show, and the sound is more glitchy and freaked-out than blissed-out. Maybe their being in Baltimore for the recording had an affect since a lot of the Bmore scene is high-octane pop.

Ariel is definitely inspired by Zappa, albeit his delivery is with a less sinister wit.

I've honestly never listened to Swans. Only know of their reputation as being intense. 11 minutes in, that still holds true

Really love both the new Cat Power and Matthew Dear. Definitely will end up somewhere in the Top 20.

Swans... it's too intense for multiple listens.

Still forming an opinion on Divine Fits. Don't hate it/don't love it, yet.

Read the Grantland review of it just now. I imagine I am the only person swayed most by the involvement of a New Bomb Turk.

Motion Sickness of Time Travel

One of my favorite ambient releases I have come across for quite some time. The last release of theirs I listened to, Luminaries & Synastry, was quite good in more of a Boards of Canada, fuzzy IDM style. But this one is slower paced and more sprawling yet sharper. Quite different but very good. Reminds me a bit of early FSOL. Only 4 tracks spread across 2 LPs. Long form stuff here. Highly recommended for fans of electronic ambient stuff.
