Just literally heard about it as well on twitter. That's a bummer. Thought he was getting help, and doing better.

Damn. Shocked and saddened by this.

I remember hearing "Ring the Bell" for the first time, up way late on a school night listening to Brave New Waves on CBC, and the game changing.

Damn. Tough to listen to that song given today's news. It's one of my favorites as well.

RIP JM.

Addiction is a motherfucker and alcohol may be the worst. It's like it takes your soul before it takes the body.

I've always meant to pick up "Didn't It Rain". May remedy that today.

Rest in peace.

While I was never a fan, I know he meant a lot to several people here on the board and he had a lot of dedicated fans out there.

Fuck me, this sucks.

His music helped me get through depression, so it really bothers me to hear he's gone. Really crappy news.

This sucks. I'm listening to my third Songs: Ohia album of the day right now. Is it time for a fourth?

gutting. just learned the news & stopped by to view posts. molina as songs: ohia was soundtrack to an early 00s dark streak i now manage to romanticize. the music was never a crutch, just appropriate for the times, and in recent days a time stamp. may be the shock of his passing, but as i listen to the lioness now, it feels like it meant so much more.

I got this news via text on the road between Quebec City and Montreal on Monday.

I could literally write pages about what this man means to me as a songwriter and inspiration, and about how criminally under recognized he is.

Instead, we learned "Just Be Simple" at sound check that night, and played the fuck out of it for the rest of the week.

It's also a pretty heavy read. Probably best to do at home. I kinda wish I'd read it last night instead of this morning.
