I got a coworker to listen to "Strokin" by Clarence Carter. The unedited version, too. Shit is tight.

She didn't make it past the first verse. Probably a good thing.

"Stroke it Clarence Carter,
But don't stroke it so fast.
If my stuff ain't tight enough,
You can stroke it up my - HAAAY I'm Strooo-kin'"

i think this relates - BR5-49's Me-n-Opie just snuck up on me in a blue mountain/uncle tupelo b-sides mix here at work. i imagine gan gan daddy & arthur dodge+horsefeathers are going to rear their ugly selves soon. longing for those early-90s lawrence, ks days.

Just throw a bunch of CDs on people's desks to get them to listen to new music that they hadn't heard of before.
And talk about music probably way too much.

No, an admin who sits by me. We're tight. Her response to Clarence: "(Disgustedly takes headphones off) Don't nobody wanna hear what your black ass wants, old man."

I just got an actual office-with-walls a month ago, so now I can play music as loud as I wish without disturbing anyone. Also, just framed up four gig posters that will shortly be going up, once I smuggle in a hammer and some nails.

I used my own band's music as the music bed for a national TV spot that I made.
I told nobody it was me until the ad had been approved.

that reminds me of a time in college when a buddy of mine worked the graveyard shift at a local country music station. it had been bought and sold for the 3rd time, and he knew he was going to get canned this time around. so the final 2 hours of his shift he played old school punk every 3rd song. the call-ins were great!

it's just me and one other guy in my room, and we both love the dead, and have a lot of similar tastes, but disagree on a handful of things so if we are diverging i'll just throw on a 3 hour dead show and then nobody complains for the rest of the day.

I know there is...just like there is a manual for every hack radio bit you ever thought was original. Doesn't take away from your work: solid interpretation, dude. Wasnt trying to hate.
