Nitpicking, but to me a festival is a one-off location, not a touring entity.

A friend msg'd me about this...just when I thought that I was done seeing Dylan live, this happens.

as good as this sounds on paper, i'm gonna take a pass on this.

the WORST possible venue in colorado with a 10 o'clock curfew = maybe 1 hour sets from wilco and mmj...no thanks.

Already picked up tix.

Bloor, if you haven't already, I think estone's information should be just the nudge you need.

I'm approaching this as probably the last time I'll ever see Dylan.

This made it sound like Richard Thompson would be sitting in with Wilco which had me intrigued but I think he's just doing another set with his band.

These are the dates they are joining the festival:

Richard Thompson Electric Trio - Special Guest on AmericanaramA
Festival of Music Featuring Bob Dylan & His Band:

July 2 Memphis TN - AutoZone Park
July 5 Noblesville IN - Klipsch Music Center
July 6 Cincinnati OH - Riverbend Music Center
July 7 Columbus OH - Nationwide Arena
July 10 St. Paul MN - Midway Stadium
July 11 Peoria IL - Peoria Chief's Stadium
July 12 Chicago IL - Toyota Park
July 14 Clarkston MI - DTE Energy Music Center
July 15 Toronto ON - Molson Canadian Amphitheatre

Love Dylan but his voice is completely shot and I have next to no interest in seeing him again so I'll pass on this tour. Pretty cool for MMJ and Wilco to get to tour with him though.

So I probably won't go now. Wilco and Jim James are playing Bonnaroo, two weeks prior to the Nashville date of Americanarama.

This was a lot of fun. We missed the beginning of Weir, but I caught most of it walking in. MMJ put on a solid set and were joined by Weir for "I Know You Rider". Wilco was good, not great ("One Sunday Morning" kind of let the air out of things), but were joined by Weir for a Dark Star>California Stars>Dark Star that was pretty fucking epic. I'll be kind to Mr. Dylan and say that I have seen him perform better than he did this night. We left before he was finished.

All in all a good afternoon/evening hanging on the lawn with friends, drinking a couple of beers and people watching.

Edit: Setlists and stuff here

Aside from the shitty and overpriced beer (when in Rome), it was an awesome time even factoring in the whole paying a babysitter thing.

Bonus: My chick agreed ahead of time to drive home which gave me the freedom to act up with Mr Derris.

Looking forward to this show. Wonder if Weir will last until they get back to his home base in Mountain View. I forgive Dylan all his idiotic windy quirks. It does seem like a desultory set list but you left before Simple Twist, a song that always breaks my heart no matter how mangled. I will also designate drive due to the strength of my partner's green cross meds.

I know, I'm a little disappointed I missed Simple Twist as well. I take solace though that I've seen Bob a handful of other times and on at least two of those he was GREAT, something he was clearly not this night. Maybe we'll cross paths again on a better night for him...

I think Bobby's run on the tour is over. Future openers include Richard Thompson, Ryan Bingham and (i heard) Beck. I think Bingham is opening the West Coast shows.

Side note on Dylan: My favorite songs he did were "Soon After Midnight" and "Duquesne Whistle" from that most recent album. Which is pretty cool if you think about it.

Weir showed up again for the last night of the show, played with both MMJ and Wilco. Agree the Dark Star-California Stars mash up was epic... Transposing CS with minor chords. Then a ST. Stephen with Nils channeling.interpolating the Fat Man.

Dylan was much better than I had hoped (or feared).... Threw in a Desolation Row in the surreal western swing juke joint mode he is mining these days. Last time I saw him I wa afraid it was the last time I'd see him. This time i was hoping it was the last time... But now I'm not so sure.

are there any bootlegs of these shows floating around?
I paid for it, but 8 hours of thunderstorms sent me home and I didn't hear a note.

When I left an hour before the doors opened (I was next door for a related show all day) the streets were already flooding beyond the point of travel and there were still 4 more hours of rain to come.

the most rain in a single day in Philadelphia history by about two inches. Twas incredibly awful. The money in my wallet was still damp three days later.
