I picked up some nice things at the Reading fair yesterday, but I sold loads too so that justifies more purchases in my book! A well spent pound for this Chinese LP. This track is called 'Special Train' https://www.mediafire.com/?4en0pr69336qgp8 There was a bloke who had about 5 tables full of stuff and was doing a deal on them before he shipped them off to Holland next week, the ones below were 3 for a £10 so I treated myself. I was really pleased with this one, the cover was a bit tatty but the vinyl was sweet I especially collect flexis and this one for 75p (!?) pressed all my buttons, coloured, 10", sampler, FilmOphone! |

Vinyl finds amongst the Lakeland Fells, mostly in Cleator Moor and Maryport I was very pleased to find this lovely Blue Horizon pressing as I've had to make do with a CBS re-issue for years! The Mac' were sitting in the 50p rack next to this Stax original The St. Kitts steel band tackle the classics MM..mm.. niiice Appropriately Maryport threw up this LP which features an entire side of songs by St. Winifreds School Choir God knows how this noisey/sweary Jazz LP from Wakefield turned up in Cockermouth. The sleeve looked interesting but it turned out to be pretty dull The most bizarre find and the only 7" was this African disc with a very strange tracklisting! On a much lighter note, a decent mid 70's Dave Edmunds album |

fresh vinyl finds, some from the newly started car boots a few from a £1 boxes at a record fair 1979 EP produced and featuring the drums of Malcolm Allured from Showaddywaddy 5 track EP from 1978 in a lavish g/f sleeve with inner to promote an advert for the Halifax Building Society A sweet Jimmy Smith 7" in the 25p racks at Age Concern In the same box as the Jimmy Smith single was this acetate disc featuring a wedding in 1959 - listen to the highlights here The Young One's Neil does a pretty decent version of the Traffic classic initially released as a dirty trainer picture disc! 3 x fine £1 LP finds from a recent record fair I have previous Negativland album but this one is even better and to top it off it comes with an unused car sticker & booklet. She first wrote books on dog training in the 50's and released this debut LP in 1967 her successful TV series came in the 80's nice Tyneside Folk artists compilation released on Rubber in 1971 |

various 7" early morning car boot finds Picture disc single from 1982 featuring various football stars on the front however, flipping it over it is signed by them and for no obvious reason Jimmy Savile OBE. Footballers featured are (back row): Dave Watson (Manchester City), Gordon McQueen (Manchester United), Phil Parkes (West Ham United), Ricky Villa (Tottenham Hotspur). (Middle row): Paul Reaney (Leeds United), Peter Withe (Newcastle United), Bob Latchford (everton), Viv Anderson (Nottingham Forest). (Front row) Steve Perryman (Tottenham Hotspur), John Hollins (Queens Park Rangers), Ossie Ardiles (Tottenham Hotspur). Indian demo disc for promoting the film Yaarana in 1980. 2 x 10p Folk EP's Swedish single in a lovely mottled red wax from 1971 2 x white flexi discs of Spanish Folk music released in 1962 I've a similar flexi given away by Your Computer mag, there may have only ever been 2 unless someone knows more? Clear vinyl flexi to celebrate the royal engagement in 1981 I assume this square flexi was given away with a board game in 1984, I have a Snow White one too. |

I picked up some pretty nice things on a recent trip to Milton Keynes charity shops & a village garage sale earlier today. It really is incredible what comes out, however I missed a load of Joy Division vinyl someone just dumped on the grass outside their house, a bloke who was there minutes before me walking away with a bloody great grin on him. But I was more than happy with the stuff I found, a whole stash of Indie LP's, most still with their original Rough Trade stickers on. Several hand-made pressings and coloured vinyls, including Sufjan Stevens, Sonic Youth etc, I wasn't complaining at £1 a pop but I had to get up bloody early! Abe Vidoga debut with hand-made cover with a grey vinyl disc/insert/CD of the LP At the tip shop they had no vinyl but quite a few bikes. A lovely copy this scarce 2005 issue of this Mountain Goats LP lying neglected to one side was this 7" "oh you can have that for 20p" she said, "thanks" I said There was another jolly good sweary band disc too, these pics don't do it's lovely gold sleeve justice! I guess some DVDs are not as popular as they used to be... Proving that you never know what the hell is going to turn up in a charity shop, I was pretty chuffed to discover this square flexi advertising a Bristol shop from 1961 tucked amongst the LP's The crashed car I saw yesterday was still in the field just over the road from the village garage sale. |

recent car booty Compilation of Dawn Records from '75 has some good tracks but unfortunately not the golden (early) years. I was happy to pay £3 for an original, super clean original copy of this baby In the same box as the Portishead was this US gatefold copy of my fave T.Rex LP Lovely LP of poetry and music written & performed by kids, I have the full 13 LP set of the Poetry & Song series which is similar but on Argo Records, of course now I'll have to look out for Vol 1 as this is Vol. 2. I saw some guy put this 20p gem back into the box, so I took it out again ha! The B side oddly enough is a version of Je' T'aime This run of Bollywood soundtracks mostly by R.D. Burman were a sweet find I have a similar LP called 'Teach Thissen Tyke' aka 'Teach Yourself Yorkshire' so imagine my delight at finding one from the North East. along with the live album! |

Tim Hecker: Love Streams The Temptations: Psychedelic Shack Miles Davis: Walkin' Jackie Wilson: Lonely Teardrops Ijahman: Haile I Hymn Miles Davis: Porgy & Bess The Strokes: Is This It Fang: Landshark Stopped by record shop after work Friday for the Tim Hecker, but the rest were at a really nice garage sale on Saturday. Really shocked to come across a great condition copy of Landshark (second '83 pressing) for cheap. Don't come by The Strokes at garage sales too often either. |

some odds & ends I have picked up at car boots and a record fair This 7" was right up my street, the B side offers advice on growing veg It still amazes me that records like this can still turn up in charity shops for 50p, this put in the racks of the Red Cross shop last Tuesday whilst you were at work! I haggled the 5th, 7th and 4th Beatles fan club flexi's down to a fiver for all 3 at a car boot at 7am I was a 50p sucker for this Videodisc of Neil Young's classic concert film, no I don't need it and no I can't play it, but it looks nice! This 2 x 12" pack by The Avalanches was one of only 2 records I picked up at the record fair yesterday. the other 1 was this old Mo Wax 10" The oddest LP I found over the weekend was this Deutsche Grammophon (promo?) in a record warehouse sleeve, it's a kind of Christmas card album featuring The Nutcracker Suite |

Bests find in a while was a flea market over the weekend when I happened across an uncensored copy of the first MC5 record for $5. Then, had to wander into the local Record Show on Sunday. It gets held once every 2 months and is usually a good place to get some good deals, although not such a good spot if you're looking for specifics. Anyway, got the following: The Beatles - Introcuding the Beatles & Meet The Beatles! ESG - ESG Nina Simone With George Wallington - Starring Nina Simone With George Wallington King-Federal Rockabillys Dick Dale And His Hot Rods - Wild Hot Rod Wails James Brown - Live At The Garden Ben Webster Quartet - In A Mellow Tone Aztec Camera - Backwards And Forwards The Jackson 5 - Maybe Tomorrow TSOL - Revenge The American Breed - Bend Me, Shape Me Johnny Hodges - Everybody Knows Jerry Goldsmith - Logan's Run Soundtrack Dick Dale And His Del-Tones - Surfers' Choice Paul & Paula - Sing For Young Lovers |

Various 7" singles I have picked up in charity shops and the odd indoor car boot when it has been raining, which unfortunately has been quite often round here Released to promote the 1982 World Cup and it is as rubbish you know the team were/are, as anyone knows, you don't win football hits sung by kids. In the same box were these 3 x Oxford United FC singles, each one released to celebrate a move up a division. 1986 1985 1984 Other odds and ends which I think I must have paid 50p each for, otherwise no-one else would. Concorde vs. Spitfires This has a good previously unreleased track called Jimi Hendrix's Strat on the flip One of Gene Vincent's last singles, released a few years after he died. Classic theme to the original TV show I thought this might be good but I didn't like it as much as her tune Pillow Talk it just isn't all that sexy really. Odd BBC records I don't already have are always of interest (to me) I do have a copy of this record by 80's TV fitness queen Diana Moran aka The Green Goddess but now I have a signed one, albiet dedicated to someone called Debbie |

I am getting stricter in my old age by rarely paying over a pound for anything I find in a field to add to my ever bulging racks. This was a nice find, the guy actually said "thats rubbish, what would you ever want that for?" it turned out to be pretty good really with Blue n' Groovy and Green Onions standouts From the same guy was this fag smoke smelling 50p gem from '69 Not sure if they are any good but I hadn't seen them before and they were in good nick, and cheap This looked like it was literally unplayed! I am prepared to break it in some 50p singles I picked this Wombles 7" up for the cute insert with it's incredible prize offer, I tried Googling any images of The Wombles on top of the Empire State to no avail. Duane Eddy singles turn up quite often in boxes but I hadn't seen this one on Parlophone before I had not come across this UK Caedmon single before either Lot's of grubby tunes on this double album of dubious pleasures |

Some 7"s from the car boot this morning, yes they do them on a Thursday morning round here. There were lots of cars and it was pretty busy, but I only saw 2 other record collectors (who I narrow my eyes at as we pass along the lines of cars) Northants based folkies who released this EP on Cottage in 1977 In the same box was this lovely flexi-disc I had not stumbled across before. A North Irish Christian spoken word oddity Debut 1970 release by the same Music maker. Scarce 7" promo for a 60's cleaning product company, I had no intention of playing the B side, honest. Curious (read rubbish) single by an ex Pontins Holiday Park house band, it came with a signed photo/label, more info on them here I picked up this groovy R&B single for the title alone. Best find of the morning was in a big box of 7"s that had been gone through dozens of times before but nobody noticed this weird wee gem. I have also uploaded it for you here |

Midweek digging in Milton Keynes and the odd car boot in Northampton, I get around. Two Ronnies LP's crop up quite often but I'd not come across this cheeky Music Hall influenced one from '69 before and gawd-blimey it turns out to be pretty good! Double pack of the first 2 JC LP's on the great Fly label, I love that logo some 50p singles If this 7" from 1960 was from a series I'd love to find a Football one I've heard of Helen's work but not seen her albums in the wild before and this one has a tatty sleeve (on the rear) but the vinyl is beautiful. Highbrow spoken word/classical music discussion Sadly not a Vertigo original but a clean and tidy Bronze issue Not the best Traffic album but gotta love that sleeve. a UK issue of their third LP - they still do nothing for me so will pass this one on I picked this 78 up for the title alone - looking it up I discovered he had done one called Hiroshima too Best find of the week was a super clean copy of The Animals debut album |

Nice find on that Animals record. I wish I could keep myself on a tighter per-record budget, but while I find plenty of cheap deals and don't go crazy with the high dollar stuff, I often can't resist when I run across that record I really want that costs a bit more than a drink at my corner bar. Splurged a bit of late... The Outsiders: Time Won't Let Me Rolling Stones: Beggars' Banquet Yusef Lateff: The Golden Flute Dangerhouse Records Vol. 1 Postal Service: Give Up Lou Donaldson: Blues Walk Tommy James & the Shondells: Hanky Panky Dave and Ansel Colllins: Double Barrel Etta James: At Last The Congos, Sun Araw and M. Geddes Gengras: Icon Give Thank Chet Baker: Sings and Plays with Bud Shank, Russ Freeman and Strings Julie Ruin: Hit Reset |

Found this in a 25p bin today, I couldn't find anything about it online but as Argos came into being circa '73 with the death of 'Green Shield Stamps' (I can't be the only one here who remembers them!) I'd date this somewhere around the mid 70's. It's got around 5 different jingles and songs on it, the best of which is this one At a guess I'd say it was used as a promo maybe at some trade fair or other, I can't imagine them ever selling it. |
