Head Gardener Wrote: these are the pick of a whole stack of Reggae & Dub 7"s from the tip shop last week - 3 for a £1 Reggae singles, and albums for that matter, seldom turn up around here. I did pick up a couple reggae singles a few weeks back and I love the B-side dubs so many of them have. Nice find. Lots of good stuff there. |

Here are some more of the singles I picked up at the fair over the weekend along with some LP's I found yesterday, like I don't have enough bloody records! There were several Goons 7"s in the boxes but this was the pick of the lot, I guess Decca went re-issue crazy for a while after they hit the charts with The Ying Tong Song. The top Speedway star makes a record. A song for the liner on the lovely Morgan label. The B side of this demo is better than the A side Another motorcycle star tries his hand at "singing". Nice demo of a great tune, it has the longer, LP version on the flip. When there were demo copies of this EP cropping up in the 10+ boxes of music publishers stock at the record fair I couldn't help feeling that someone may have creamed off any the Beatles/Stones/Bowie demos that may have originally been in there, luckily this one slipped the net. These were some of the albums I picked up at the village garage sale in Kilsby yesterday, there were a lot of Bowie, UFO and AC/DC too at 3 for £2. The cover alone looked nice and I had no idea it would sound quite so good too, the single cut of the title track is pretty rare. I was chuffed to find a copy albiet a bit battered with the poster sticker on it, alas it was not to be inside. Best find of the day was the debut album by Nilsson in absolutely beautiful condition. |

Despite missing an entire weekend of car booting I still found a few records wandering the charity shops yesterday, nicest of all was this 78 which was in the tip shop for 50p (I did put it in one of my company sleeves when I got home) and a few 7"s I only picked this up for the label really, hoped it was Folk but it turned out to be Male Voice Choirish I had never seen this Pentangle single before classic Yardbirds in lovely nick and an ELO 7" in it's original picture sleeve |

A real hotch-potch of vinyl finds the past few days, a few of which I bought for the covers alone, for example It's hard to tell if this sleeve was touched up to make the players look scarier than they probably already were but there is an unsettling look on their faces that says yes, I could break your collarbone just like that if I wanted to! Equally unsettling but perhaps for different reasons is this comedy album from 1983 features a young-ish Angus Deayton and musical director Philip Pope who went on to do Who's Line Is It Anyway? and The Fast Show etc. Less wacky than the BBC comedy album, this features the talents of both Rolf Harris and Slim Dusty. Great gatefold sleeve for this French album by Francoise Hardy released in 1970 some nice themed 7"s A bit of an oddity this one, featuring clips of the Radio Caroline DJ going through his paces, released in 1969 probably through mail-order. I don't remember this show but this is the trailer Lee Hazelwood would turn in his grave if he heard this version Luckily I couldn't find a Youtube link to this Princess Di tribute |

various bits/bobs from charity/tip-shops A great 78 on Homochord The Tangerine Dreamy sleeve caught my eye but it turns out to be soft Icelandic Folk East London folkies sole album released in 1967 Cheesey-Electro Bond themes overload The sleeve was a bit tatty but the vinyl is sweet In with a large collection of Irish Folk LP's were a few religious oddities, it's not everyday I come across albums with sick & dying lying on the cover The previous owner must have made a few pilgrimages to Lourdes as there were tickets inside the sleeves Not sure if I will ever get round to listening to it but it was in the box along with... |

I picked up a right old load of Irish Folk this week, am slowly ploughing my way through them but will probably have to stick them up in 2 posts as there are so many cracking sleeves, all date from the late 60's to the early 80's and were only 25p each! OK so |

I've tried with that John Hartford album in the past and couldn't get into it. Always keep an eye out for it on vinyl though. Tom Ghent intrigues me and I still need that Bobby Whitlock... usually > $5 around town. Another amazing score, billy! |

Well, for a buck each, I couldn't resist these garage sale finds, all in great shape... Miles Davis: Seven Steps to Heaven Pharoah Sanders: Black Unity Beginning Of The End: Funky Nassau The Jazz Crusaders: At the Lighthouse Lee Morgan: Procrastination And then, the estate sale had a few reel to reel tapes, all in fantastic shape and 7 1/4 ips, again for a buck each. Sadly, rumor was a pre-sale had shipped out a decent amount of them and the good gear with just some miscellaneous crap electronics left. Still, I'll have fun with these: Gabor Szabo: Ragga Jazz Saturday Night Fiedler Vladimir Ashkenazy: Rachmaninov: Piano Concertos 2 & 3 Bruno Walter: Beethoven Symphony #5 Bruno Walter: New World Symphony The World's Greatest Jazzband of Yank Lawson & Bob Hagget Oscar Peterson: Thoroughly Modern Twenties Jazz! Sampler Series (some really good stuff on here) And, finally, bargain basement at St. Vinnie's, for 50 cents each: Sweet: Desolation Boulevard 8-track 12 Inches of Fun: Four for the Price of 1 (great old school hip hop collection of 12 inches from Kurtis Blow, Boogie Boys, Fat Boys, and Choice MCs) Still have another stack of vinyl I haven't cleaned up yet. |

a good weekend of car boot finds, nothing more than £5 a great double album of early R&B, 60's Pop and Blues Rock I was happy to pay £3 for this as it was in lovely nick, my old one is pretty trashed not their best but it was missing from my collection and they looked cool even doing their shopping this doesn't turn up at car boots too often and it's as daft now as it was then - nice Pepper pastiche, right down to the card insert well spent 10p for this 60's polythene outer bag - looks good on the right album! various 50p singles, turns out some are great and a few are rubbish but it was worth the punt, I'll pick up any demo's if they are cheap & the Chinese EP is pretty sweet (not sour, arf) |

weekend finds a nice pile of Bollywood soundtracks with a live double album gem lurking within I won all these for £3 at the auction on Sunday, no-one but me was interested in them, not to complain but I do wonder why sometimes... in the same 50p box as the Nirvana 12" below were a load of old Yes (I am bound to get a couple of quid off someone for these next time I do a boot) despite my lack of knowledge or interest in House music I could hardly leave this in a 50p box but it's still not my cuppa tea |
