So we're over two months into the new year, time to start ranking our favorite albums.

Your thoughts on this year's releases so far?

Way too early to rank them, but so far I really like:

The I Don't Cares "Wild Stab"
Benji Hughes "Songs in the Key of Animal"
Javier Escovedo "Kicked Out of Eden"

Kinda bold 'n' crazy to attempt a music thread up in heeeyah.

As Rads pointed out, it is still way early. But, so far (mid-March), I have been enjoying these 2016 releases:
Fumaça Preta - Impuros Fanáticos
Barry Adamson - Know Where to Run
David Bowie - Blackstar

Oh yes the new Tacocat album is out next month and I'm hopefully going to see them in Philly. So there's that.

Honestly, one of the best things Paul has done in years. Getting a lot of play.

Also -
The Cactus Blossoms - You're Dreaming
Peter Bruntnell - Nos Da Comrade
Richmond Fontaine - You Can't Go Back If There's Nothing To Go Back To

I'm late on listening to a lot of 2016 albums because I was still trying to get through a bunch of 2015 stuff over the last two months.

But here's what I've liked most from what little I've heard from this year so far. It's kind of disproportionately leaning toward metal, but that'll even out later on.

Albums:
Aluk Todolo – Voix
Oranssi Pazuzu – Värähtelijä
Black Tusk – Pillars of Ash
David Bowie – Blackstar
Rangda – The Heretic's Bargain
Adrian Younge – Something About April II

EP:
Krallice – Hyperion (only EP I've heard so far)

Among the things I know I want to hear but haven't gotten around to: Sheer Mag III, Pinegrove, Nap Eyes, Roly Porter, Junior Boys, Anna Meredith, Jesu/Sun Kil Moon, Kendrick Lamar, nonkeen, and Porches. And probably Animal Collective, DIIV, Ty Segall, Tortoise, and Kanye, too.

Yeah, It's nothing to get too excited about just some solid VU/Stones inspired jams. I really enjoy the track "US Ruse".

I hadn't heard of either of these and I'm really liking both--thanks for the heads up.

I'm going to have to give Steve Mason's other solo albums a listen.

I definitely dig that I Don't Cares. Gave Benji Hughes a try, but it wasn't my bag.
