Everyone needs a side hustle, right?

Boiled Records is joint joint with Michael Johnson, whose self-titled record as Ape School I put out via Ninja Tune in 2009. We stayed friends long enough for it to recoup, believe it or not. Then we hatched this concept for a short-run/long-con record label bridging Philadelphia and Toronto, dedicated to outsider music in outlandish packages. The first release is Vanillalord's Macro Plaque PAC EP on square, clear, mono, lathe-cut 8" vinyl (wrapped in a wearable burlap mask), cassette, and digital. RIYL: Prefab Sprout, Frank Zappa, John Maus, Birthday Party, post-gunk slop-rock something rather. LP by Scott Churchman to follow. RIYL: Low, Codeine, Scott Walker. And then what.

I hope you will dig.

And who said square, clear, mono, lathe-cut 8" vinyl was dead?

Population has dwindled from 75 to 67 copies worldwide.

Dude, YOU put out that 2009 Ape School record?! As in, the guy who later did "A New Low! It Sucks Itself!" ... damnation. I fucking love that song.

Alright, I pre-ordered one. I'm a sucker for burlap masks. Plus the music sounds good.

Yes! As in Ape School, also known for such hits as "Marijuana's On The Phone", "Makin The Bacon", and the upcoming album Death Is Messy. I fucking love "A New Low", too... Yeppp ... I signed 'em, and we put out that self-titled record.
