So, here goes nothing...
•
Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever | Talk Tight — Outstanding jangle pop from an Aussie band that channels the best of The Go Betweens and the Flying Nun bands.
•
Family Atlantica | Cosmic Unity — A sort of mish-mash of African styles jumbled together into one glorious whole. Feel-good music of the highest order.
•
David Bowie | Blackstar —We all know about this one.
•
Fumaça Preta | Impuros Fanáticos — I've waxed about this band so much that you all should know. But in case you missed it: Imagine Os Mutantes jamming with Captain Beefheart. This is pretty much what you'd get.
MY FULL REVIEW.
•
Flamingods | Majesty — Sounds like a modern update of The Beatles' Indian forays, crossed with Cornershop and some recent indie.
•
Klaus Johann Grobe | Spagat der Liebe — Spacey, free-floating Krautrock.
MY FULL REVIEW.
•
Ultimate Painting | Dusk — Excellent nighttime listening indie jangle rock. Echoes of Velvet Underground.
MY FULL REVIEW.
•
Cate Le Bon | Crab Day — Cate gets weirder than ever, with some of the oddball tendencies of her DRINKS project spilling over into her solo work.
•
Tom Zé | Canções Eróticas de Ninar —Just another fantastic, weirdo album from one of my favorite artists of all-time. Takes traditional Brazilian forms and turns them on their ear.
•
Dinosaur Jr. | Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not — DJ continues the string of brilliant records that began with the reunion of the original trio. For old fuckers like me who grew up with them, this is just amazing.
