Cool. I didn't know he had a new one, but I really liked It Calls On Me from last year.

Liking several things, but I'm just gonna mention a couple...

Alice Coltrane:Ecstatic Music, posthumous release compiled form things she released only as tapes traded around various ashrams during her later years of spiritual questing. Luka Bop did a really great job with gathering up the music and releasing the best of it, well-mastered and with full participation of the Coltrane family. Interesting mixture of Eastern music with her harp and organ cutting through. Also features her only recorded vocals.

Chuck Berry: Chuck, better than I anticipated frankly. From seeing him playing several times in the years leading up to his end, it didn't exactly look like he had much gas left in the tank, but this is a solid release. For me, the best parts are when he slows down a bit and doesn't try to recreate his tunes from his younger days when he simply was able to conjure up way more energy than he can now. Still, plenty of good stuff here.

Yeah, both are by dead people. Gonna hafta check into the other suggestions around here.

Yazz Ahmed: La Saboteuse
Originally released as 4 separate EPs, compiled into a 2LP set with a beautiful embossed cover. Mesmerizing jazz with trumpet and flugelhorn. Blend of Arabic and spiritual jazz motifs. This will be hard to beat for my favorite 2017 jazz release. Fantastic music and a beautiful release.

You should check out the Shugo Tokumaru, too. In the same kind of vein.

Finally getting around to listening to the new New Pornographers. I find it to be more of the same NP formula, and maybe even overproduced, but dang I really like it.

Really digging Moon Duo - Occult Architecture Vol.2. Spacey guitar psych with a nice groove. I've heard bits and pieces from them in the past, but this is the first whole album of their's I've picked up. Anyone have any info on their other releases, let me know.

I'm loving the Protomartyr album and it gains extra points for a Heraclitus mention.

Quin Galvais - The Battery Line
Kaleidoscope - Volume 3
Dead Horses - Ballad for Losers

All doing it for me at the moment.
