I don't like tales of knights and I don't like story songs and this first song is like listening to someone else play Dragon Warrior.

Yeah there's no way I could make it through Genesis.

Romeo locks his basement flat
And scurries up the stair
With head held high and floral tie
A weekend millionaire
I will make my bed
With her tonight, he cries
Can he fail armed with his chocolate surprise?

that last line is about doo-doo right?

It's really harshing my vibe that Foxtrot was surprisingly not horrific, and then Selling England is a slooooogg.

This song is 12 minutes that sounds like Mannheim Steamroller breaking out their one non-Christmas song.

Fearlessly commenting, though intimidated by the shadow of Radcliffe's always-conclusive verdict, listening to those early PG Genesis albums is like listening to Grateful Dead studio albums, ya kinda miss the point .... you're eating popcorn without the salt.

Those years the music was soundtrack for disturbingly powerful stage performances. Even the videos don't do the live shows justice:

On the other hand, like the Dead, perhaps the only perfect perception of that music in that place and that time was through the Door of radically altered perception.

Genesis after PG may have well been Rush....with a lesser drummer.

Currently debating how much of a pain in the ass it would be to split off the solo albums in chronological order, too.

Got to side 3, and started to think it was picking up a bit. Now comes "The Colony of Slippermen: The Arrival/A Visit to the Doktor/Raven" aka 8 minutes and 11 seconds of I'm not high enough for this shit.

Oh! As I typed that they quit noodling for a minute and started an actual song.

The last line of "It" deserves a wedgie.

I heard "Back in NYC" (side 2, track 1 of The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway) on Sirius XM the other day and thought it was decent, but my opinion may have been colored by being familiar with Jeff Buckley's cover.

In the current world crisis, I don't think this Genesis listening effort is worth the risks. Depression and suicidal rates have to be spiking and this can't be helping.
