Here's my latest mix that I'm pretty dang proud of. I wanted something comprehensive but not overwhelming. In researching this I found a TON of stuff I didn't know existed. For every band on this mix that you've heard of there were a dozen I never heard of. I tried to spread out the sounds (see sub-genre list) and I tried to spread out the years represented (otherwise there would be a lot more cheesy Moog records from 1969). I also have a pretty international mix, with artists from the US, Japan, UK, Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, and maybe some other places.

01. John Cage - Williams Mix (1952)
02. Vladimir Ussachevsky - Piece For A Tape Recorder (1955)
03. Henk Badings - Arioso (1956)
04. Tom Disevelt & Kid Baltan - Syncopation (1959)
05. Joe Meek - Dribcots Space Boat (1960)
06. Tod Dockstader - Piece # 2 (1961)
07. Erik Nordgren - Crazy Robots (1964)
08. Raymond Scott - Toy Funk (1966)
09. Perrey & Kingsley - Fallout (1967)
10. Silver Apples - Seagreen Serenades (1968)
11. Beaver & Krause - Dill Piccolo (Or Try Not To Twitch) (1969)
12. Dick Hyman - The Moog And Me (1969)
13. Hugo Montenegro - Moog Power (1969)
14. Mort Garson - Hair (1969)
15. White Noise - Love Without Sound (1969)
16. Bruce Haack - Electric To Me Turn (1970)
17. Fred Weinberg - Cowboy Gregg (1970)
18. Ron Geesin - Organ In The Clouds (1972)
19. Wendy Carlos - March From A Clockwork Orange (1972)
20. Hot Butter - Skokian (1973)
21. Klaus Wunderlich - Krimoogulus (1973)
22. Harmonia - Sonnenchein (1974)
23. Isao Tomita - Arabesque No. 1 (1974)
24. Laurie Spiegel - Appalachian Grove (1974)
25. Moolah - Terror Is Real (1974)

26. The Peppers - Do It, Do It (1974)
27. Sensations' Fix - Space Closure (1974)
28. Bernard Fevre - Magnetic Spool (1975)
29. Besombes-Rizet - Lundi Matin (1975)
30. Kraftwerk - Ariwaves (1975)
31. Synergy - Relay Breakdown (1975)
32. Cluster - Sowiesoso (1976)
33. Jean Michel Jarre - Oxygene (Part IV) (1976)
34. Jean-Yves Labat - Matrix 16 (1976)
35. Vangelis - Pulstar (1976)
36. Anna Sjakv Tredje - Mossen (1977)

43. Ryuichi Sakamoto - The End Of Asia (1978)
44. Yellow Magic Orchestra - Firecracker (!978)
45. Der Plan - Commerce Exterieur Mondial Sentimentale (1979)
46. Edgar Forese - Stuntman (1979)
47. Heldon - Une Drole De Journee (1979)
48. Jacno - Rectangle (1979)
49. Silicon Teens - Chip'N'Roll (1979)
50. Tubeway Army - Me! I Disconnect From You (1979)

Genres represented: Experimental, Space Age Pop, Children's Music, Electronic Pop, Psychedelic Rock, Progressive Electronic, Psychedelic Pop, Library Music, Soundtrack Music, Krautrock, Classical/Orchestral Electronic, Experimental Rock, Synth Pop, New Age, Ambient, Berlin School, Neue Deutsche Welle, Disco Electro, Minimal Synth, New Wave

Omissions - Terry Riley's "A Rainbow in Curved Air" and any number of Klaus Schulze tracks were left off because I didn't want to put 16+ minute songs in my mix. I also left off some choice cuts that can be found on the Best of Moog and the Deutsche Elektronische Musik compilations because I love those comps and wanted all this to stand apart.

I can share via dropbox if someone wants to shoot me their email. Spotify was helpful but overall just can't provide what I want to share. Story of my mix-making life.

Thanks!

I'm working on the 80s now and it's also quite the wormhole.

Hey this is cool! Dig seeing Hot Butter "Skokian" included as it was one of the first electronic songs I heard as a kid thanks to my uncle. Do you have this in mix format on Mixcloud/Soundcloud? Interested in seeing what you include for the 80's.

Yeah, that looks like a nice primer of stuff a lot of people name check but seldom listen to. I kind of want a copy.

Here's the next one. First of all, the mix only covers the next 10 years of electronic music (the first mix covered the previous 25ish). Second of all, I tried a healthy mix of hits and non-hits. The fact that so many of these acts and songs are recognizable to the general public I think says something about the evolution of electronic music in our culture at the time. Lastly, I did not put these songs in chronological order like on the last mix, they are roughly ordered according to sub-genre (which still loosely takes you through certain periods of the decade). Subgenres include some repeats from the first mix, though the 80s incarnations sound quite a bit different than the earlier stuff. I've also added EBM, electro, Hi NRG, plunderphonics, and House/Acid/Techno/Bleep/Breakbeat/etc.
