When I burn cds and then play them on my discman or in my car I can view the track title as well as album title. From what I understand this is all about LAME encoding, right??

But none of my store bought cds have this encoding on them. It's a feature I really like to use, especially when driving. I can just look down and see the title of the song.

Why don't commercially produced cds have this? Is it expensive to add into the cost of a pressing? Is the technology not really there yet?

Anyone?

I can't think of a single reason why they wouldn't do this. I think Sony always encodes the titles, but you're right, for some reason a lot of labels leave it off. Weak.
