i dont know shit from dick about rap/hip-hop music

i violently enjoy atmosphere, sage francis, mc chris, blackalicious, cypress hill, and maybe a couple eminem & 50 cent songs that weren't horrible

obviously im a dirty white boy

really that's about all that ive been turned onto
but i have a feeling its the tip of the iceberg for
some really decent shit

suggestions?

Nas- One of the best lyrcists in Rap, Illmatic is one of the best hip hop records ever made
Deltron- Deltron is a collaboration between MC Del the Funky Homosapien and Dan the Automator. Their one CD is Deltron 3030 which is a rap concept album about the future
Talib Kweli- A great Lyricist who doesn't do the typical "gangsta" rap thing

i like some of these songs
(i d/l'd fishscale and honey toney)
but im more of a "whole album has to rock" kind of guy
and i can't imagine listening to skits and silly bullshit over and over

is this type of stuff in nearly all rap albums or wha?

yeah, that doesn't happen much in rap. I'd recommend Madvillain, Dr. Octagon, and the first Wu album, see what you like from that and build on it from there.
