It's acquired listening. But I love it. But I'm a Madlib guy. His best beats are on that album though. Anyway, the new album is gonna be dope. I have both singles released so far.

the beats are ridiculous, but i found the voice mod that he pulls for the Quas character to be a bit trying. there is, or at least there was, an instrumental version that was really good.

$14.99! Yikes. I think I payed under $20 CAD when it came out for the vinyl. I think there is a CD version out there that has both the Instrumental and Regular mix on 2 CD's. I love this record - even the tweaked voice. Rent "Sweet Sweetback's Badasssss Song" and "La Planete Sauvage" and you'll hear a few samples. COME ON FEET - MOVE FOR ME.

I love the vocals. The vocals are what do it for me.

sometimes i can block the vocals out mentally and this is ok. i'm not buying shit until there's an instrumental version, though.

so the original leaked copy i got was bullshit. some of the tracks were whack and such.

the one i got now is a lot better. its just edited on the songs and has taht annoying promo message at the beginning of every song.

its a dope album for sure though.

i think that mine doesn't have any promostuff on it, but i only listened to it once and it's conceivable that he could do it in such a way that i'd miss it. i really like a lot of the beats on here, but i just don't see the point of the Quasimoto character. the lyrics, voice and flow combine to make him as a rapper just slightly north of jaydee. why not just make this a lootpack album? i wonder if it's just ego that makes madlib include himself on the tracks instead of getting someone that can handle the load.

How do you guys like The Unseen but not like the new album? This isn't an attack; I'm just wondering because I haven't heard the first one, but I've heard they're pretty similar.

This is my take on the new one after one listen. This guy really needs to produce Gift of Gab's next solo disc. MadGab? Gift of Lib?

they're more or less the same album with the same strengths and flaw.

exactly. i mean what its been 5 years now. i guess its all context. i don't think i would hold wu in high regard if they made 36 chambers all over again 4 years later. plus this album sounds even more unfocused and wishy washy (which at the time most certainly seemed like a good thing ). maybe that's the theme of things when it comes to quasimoto and i should not complain, but personally i am just not excited buy it that much and i damn well think madlib got more in him and greenery is proof. <twiches nose>

I always liked that Blue Note label remix album Madlib did. Never heard any of his Quasimoto stuff though.
