Some notes, explantation, etc:

In a lot of ways I am truly a child of the 80's. Putting together this collection of songs has been a labor of love sifting and rediscovering some of the tunes I grew up listening to on the radio during the 80's. For me it was a magical time of musical discovery. The music you'll find here is, I believe, still relevant today as can be seen by the recent popularity of the Electroclash movement which directly draws on this type of music as an influence. Bouncy synths? Check. Drum machines? Check. Deep crooning male vocals? Double check. I strived to put as much of a variety of styles that I could and still be within the genre. Anyways, it was great fun collecting these songs over the past few months and I decided to offer it up as a YSI because some fellow Obners expressed interest in it. It's all here, from darkwave to sappy Top 40 stuff. If this kind of music is your thing I'd like to get some feedback of what you think of the mixes. Oh, the memories.

Enjoy.

You'll notice that included some Talk Talk. See, I told you I liked them even if I think that most Obners wouldn't.

Aces on the Passions tune. There's some gold in here, 5 discs is ambitious.

You need to hear their later stuff. You won't believe it's the same band.

this is Like, the most awesomely rad mix project! I am totally going to play coleco football until I YSI this and then I am going to dance and dance and dance(Hooters reference). What an amazing task..all the goods are here! Question since you seem to be the Yoda of all things 80's music...a club tune..german sounding techno [vocal]doom da da doom daa daa ratta tatta tatta [vocal] recall this? Miss this one.
Really can't wait to hear the ABC on here. Kudos for the art work for disc 3, I used to spend hours drawing the duran duran Rio album cover over and over....
(and a few hours now and then getting  lap dances  under a print just like this, I'll bet)

Thanks again!

Sure do. That's George Kranz, Din Daa Daa, released in 1984 and yes I have it.

Damn...tons of good stuff on those. I don't have time to grab 'em all right now, but I had to get #3 because its been way too long since I've heard White Horse.

Very nice collection.

I deleted the original zip files, so I'll have to put them back together, but I'll try to get 2-5 up as soon as I can. I didn't get the first one.

AGH! I'm just now seeing this. How is that possible??? oh, shit, I better download before the links expire! Rami, you can dj at my house anytime. :)

edit: fuckity fuck fuck... these zip files aren't extracting for me, and two of them crapped out during download from ysi

editx2: well, I managed to download all but cd 2. I kept getting a "server was reset" error, and it never finished, after multiple attempts.
