This is draft 1 of a mix I'm making for a on-line friend from the Elliott Smith board. I'm trying to make a good mix of some old and newish stuff because he is fairly young. I keep using some of the same songs on people's mixes, I fear I may be in a rut in that respect. At any rate, any ideas or criticism would be appreciated.

Between the Brain and the Blackboard
Animal Collective – I Remember Learning How to Dive
Pavement – Shady Lane
Jim Guthrie – All Gone
Roy Harper – Davey
Ron Sexsmith – The Grim Trucker
Luke Temple – Make Right with You
French Kicks – Following Waves
New Order – Age of Consent
John Vanderslice – Gruesome Details
The Walkmen – Wake Up
The Tables – Rubble Soul
Kelley Stoltz – Memory Collector
Nick Drake – River Man
Apples in Stereo – The Benefits of Lying with your Friends
Fruit Bats – Lives of Crime
English Beat – I Confess
Goldfrapp – Felt Mountain
Cass McCombs – I Went to the Hospital
Thou – Colour the Sun
Lupen Crook – Exactly the Planet
Talking Heads – This Must be the Place

After two listens, the only weird transition is the New Order to Vanderslice...kind of abrupt, maybe a different Vanderslice would work?!?

I've used "Trance Manual" in that respect with fantastic results.

I tried "Trance Manual" which didn't quite work so I went with his "Amitriptyline" which has a interesting transition in the middle of the song...I also changed the Luke Temple song to "Someone Somewhere" which works better after the McCartney-esque Ron Sexsmith song.

New Result (which I am sort of happy with but dammit, we have to stop sometime):
