Post subject: | My very first ever mix exchange |
Inspired by PopTodd's "dug out an old mix" post... Two months ago I sent a mix CD to a friend. What's remarkable is that it completed an exchange that commenced 18 years ago. I was fortunate enough to travel to London while in high school. I was also fortunate enough to work in a record store while in high school. I'm one of the luckiest people on earth because the manager of said chain store has kickin' taste in music. So, when adolescent me was going to London and asked for some suggestions to seek at The Record And Tape Exchange and others, said manager put together this tape. It took me 17 years to acquire every song on this tape, the last single purchased on-line from a store in Germany last year--this had been a grail-quest for me since 1986. I still have the tape, a TDK SA-X 90 England (and Scotland) On Five Chords A Day Side 1 The Bananamen: The Crusher Splodgeness Abounds: Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps Rip Rig And Panic: Bob Hope Takes Risks Marc Riley: Favourite Sister Department S: Going Left Right Department S: I Want Percy Pavillion (Captain Sensible): You're An Extra Baby The Pop Group: She Is Beyond Good And Evil The Higsons: Conspiracy The Rich Kids: Ghosts Of Princes In Towers Cowboys International: Thrash The Associates: Party Fears Two Afraid Of Mice: Intercontinental Dalek I Love You: Dalek I Love You Wire: Start To Move Side 2 Punishment Of Luxury: Radar Bug/Metropolis Orange Juice: Blue Boy Orange Juice: What Presence The Scars: All About You The Skids: Into The Valley The Skids: Out Of Town The Spizzles: Soldier Soldier The Dukes of Stratosphear: My Love Explodes Television Personalities: I Know Where Syd Barrett Lives The Toy Dolls: Nellie The Elephant Magazine: I Love You, You Big Dummy Sham 69: Borstal Breakout (Re-mix) |

If you have an original copy of 'Blue Boy' that's worth quite a lot of money (well for a record anyway....don't go out and buy a new house or anything). The most valuable records I own are my Orange Juice singles you could maybe get £30-40 for them depending on the condition. |

The most valuable records I own are my Orange Juice singles you could maybe get £30-40 for them depending on the condition. Mine are all in the standard brown or black Postcard company sleeve, although "Poor Old Soul" does have the postcard insert (as does my Josef K "Sorry For Laughing" and Aztec Camera "Just Like Gold". Would love to find a copy of "Falling and Laughing" or any pic sleeves (AC's "Mattress of Wire" is the only Postcard Pic Slv I have). Cheers! |
