I llike Bon Iver so much more than I thought I would. Too many refences to "in the vein of Sufjan" have been diluting and misrepresenting some newer artists. You can't just slap "freakfolk" on something this purty and expect people to seek it out.

Freakfolk references are the new "angular." Don't actually mean anything.

Also, Small Sails got the synth goin' on, they do.

sure they do...they mean your voice cracks and warbles at all the right times, you wear the right l.l. bean ensemble, and you have at least one "old world" americana instrument, such as the banjolin or autoharp, in over half your album, and if you're a girl, it means you trim your bangs straight across, right over your brow.
