Dexy's were part Jam and part Sparks-as-rude-boy, with a little Waterboys and Squeeze thrown in. Not the kind of "80's reek" that bothers me at all. Rowland wasn't the most on-target vocalist, but that worked for their peculiar brand of Irish-stevedore-in-England soul searching.

I think Rowland may have lost his way emotionally and mentally from the mid 80's on to the turn of the millenium, but the three albums they put out are much better than many would suspect.

I think James fans would like this.
