Jim Byrnes - "Walk On Boy"
Image

Byrnes is better known as Mother from the Wiseguy TV series and Joe Dawson from Highlander: The Series but he's also a soulful slide blues artist with a lived-in and impressive delivery.

Good song, Jim.

Scrappy Jud Newcomb - "Don't You Turn That Song Off"

Ride The High Country came out last fall but I'm just hearing it now. Stones/Van Morrison influenced charmer from longtime Austin guitarist/singer-songwriter.

Gordie Tentrees - "Alfred"

Former boxer from Ontario who moved to the Yukon and became a likeable Whitehorse folk blues singer-songwriter. Better known for supporting Fred Eaglesmith but starting to get known on his own. This is consummate World Cafe music.

Peatbog Faeries - "Folk Police" (live)

High energy celtic fusion from the good guys of world music. They never take themselves too seriously and put on displays of staggering musical polyglot just to earn enough for a couple of pints.

Neil Hannon (The Divine Comedy) and Tom Walsh (Pugwash) do white boy funk about cricket but you could also ignore the cricket part in this track and just groove a bit.
