Todd, I'm sure you've heard those Underworld and Republica songs. The Underworld one is the song from Trainspotting that was everywhere.

Okay. Probably would know them if I heard them. But I don't remember them, offhand.

My take:

CD One

1. Pulp : Common People -- I agree with Todd, definitely include if you're not sick of it.
2. Placebo : Nancy Boy -- Decent band. I feel like I should know this song, but can't recall it.
3. Supergrass : Richard III -- Not the Supergrass song I would've chosen, but probably worth including.
4. Garbage : Stupid Girl -- If not sick of it, include.
5. Republica : Ready To Go -- See Placebo.
6. Charlatans : The Only One I Know -- Meh.
7. Manic Street Preachers : You Love Us -- Good band, don't know the song.
8. Ocean Colour Scene : The Riverboat Song -- Okay band, don't know the song.
9. Blur : M.O.R. -- Include.
10.Mansun : Wide Open Space -- Todd said no, but I liked this one.
11. Chumbawamba : Tubthumping -- See "Common People" (track 1)
12. Reef : Place Your Hands -- Okay song, probably leave it off if you need to make space.
13. Elastica : Waking Up -- Don't know it, but Elastica is generally good.
14. Boo Radleys : Wake Up Boo! -- Include.
15. Paul Weller : The Changingman -- Don't know it.
16. Wannadies : You And Me Song -- Don't know it.
17. Oasis : All Around The World -- An Oasis song from after the second album? Skip it.

CD Two

1. Oasis : Wonderwall -- Another "if you're not sick of it" track.
2. James : Sit Down -- Include.
3. Embrace : All You Good Good People -- Meh.
4. Radiohead : Street Spirit (Fade Out) --Include.
5. Stone Roses : Love Spreads -- Include!
6. Catatonia : Mulder And Scully -- Kind of a novelty song. Probably a skipper.
7. Suede : Animal Nitrate -- Not my favorite Suede song, but probably worth including.
8. Space : Avenging Angels -- Don't know it.
9. Cardigans : Lovefool -- Another "if you're not sick of it" track.
10. Ash : Goldfinger -- Include.
11. Seahorses : Love Is The Law -- Decent song. Probably on the bubble.
12. Shed Seven : Going For Gold -- Don't know it.
13. Ian Brown : My Star -- Don't know it.
14.Cast : Free Me -- Don't know it. Cast were okay generally.
15.Eels : Novocaine For The Soul -- Include (is this the only American band on the mix?)
16.Primal Scream : Loaded -- Include.
17.Cornershop : Brimful Of Asha -- Include.
18.The Prodigy : Breathe -- Don't think I know it. Not a fan of the Prodigy.
19.Underworld : Born Slippy .NUXX -- If you're not sick of it.

These are the only ones that I could make any case for:

6.Charlatans : The Only One I Know
16. Wannadies : You And Me Song
1.Oasis : Wonderwall
2.James : Sit Down
3.Embrace : All You Good Good People
5.Stone Roses : Love Spreads

and that's being generous to the Oasis and Embrace tracks

Weird that the Wannadies made this comp as they are a Swedish indie pop band. I actually have a box set of their stuff. It's far from essential but I like it enough to keep it.

Suede is possibly the worst band ever. Make yourself a list of everyone who recommends putting that track on there and don't trust anything that they have to say about anything ever again.

Reading billy g's post, I thought to myself "I don't remember seeing that Charlatans song on the list" and then I scrolled up and see I put "meh". I don't know what I was thinking, but that one should definitely be included.

While I respect bg's opinions on most things, he is totally wrong on this one.
Yes, Suede were blatant Bowie apers, but at least they took all the best parts of Ziggy-era Bowie to make a single, faggy, gloriously bombastic sound. I loved the first couple of albums, right up through Coming Up.
So, not that you trusted me anyway, Bill... but your opinion on is this is wrong.
Wrong.
Opinion.

Because I have an opinion, too.
And mine is right.
Right. Opinion. Me.
