As I mentioned I'm making a mix (probably a 2 or 3 disc one) as inspired by the book 'Rip It Up And Start Again' and I'm adding the tracks as I read through the book. I have about 75% of the records in the book so I thought it would a) keep me occupied b) I can listen to the music as I read and c) I'll have a pretty good aural document of post punk when I've finished.

So far...

DISC 1

1) P.I.L - Public Image
2) Buzzcocks - Boredom
3) Magazine - Shot By Both Sides
4) The Subway Sect - Ambition
5) Pere Ubu - 30 Seconds Over Tokyo
6) Devo - Mongoloid
7) The Pop Group - She Is Beyond Good And Evil
8) The Slits - Ping Pong Affair
9) The Normal - TVOD
10) The Swell Maps - Let's Build A Car
11) Gang of Four - At Home He's A Tourist
12) Talking Heads - Drugs
13) Wire - Map Ref. 41N 93W
14) The Human League - Being Boiled
15) Cabaret Voltaire - Nag Nag Nag
16) The Fall - How I Wrote Elastic Man
17) Joy Division - Atmospheres
18) Scritti Politti - Hegemony
19) The Flying Lizards - Money
20) The Raincoats - A Fairey Tale In The Supermarket

DISC 2

1) Young Marble Giants - Final Day

i bet you have a long and rational justification for why there is no Orange Juice on that mix, much less the song. and why THAT Go4 song?

Orange Juice will be in (since there like my favourite band ever) but they don't feature until Chapter 18 and I'm only at Chapter 11.

And yeah, I know it's THAT Go4 song, but it's the one Simon Reynolds goes on about most in the book so on the mix it goes.

it's a great song, i was just wondering how you'd picked it. i didn't realize that you were sticking with the book (and that you weren't done with it yet).
