Ohhhhhhhhh yeah! I know where that place is at! I've never been there, but now have a reason to go.

I'm a born and bred So Cal gal. Have lived here all my life.

P.S. Been to Roscoes? If not I will have to drag you there next time I'm in town K?
Let's see...
Used to know some great taco stands in Glendale,
a good place on Old Town that had Mole from the Yucatan area NOT from Mexico.
A great hole-in-the wall Indonesian joint on Live Oak.
I'll think of others and see if you've been there.

Of course, I've been to Roscoe's!! Mmmm...who can pass up waffles n fried chicken?

Even though I'm of Mexican descent, I'm not a big fan of mole. However, doesn't mean I don't dig an excellent Mexican restaurant. That said, I don't recall any in Old Town.

And an Indonesian restaurant on Live Oak? That one I'd like to know about.

(As you can see, I passed out last night before any of you who were up later did.)

Hey! Ficktional.

Undergrad or Overgrad? Yeah i heard about you students hanging out at the library. Which is that the one that is the hot pickup action? I'd hang out there too but I gotta work. DAMN!

undergrad until december, then i'll be "unemployed." hilarious, right? :?

i believe the hotspot you're referring to is helen c. white (college) library, but i don't know what that reputation is all about. i've never actually met a decent guy there, although i used to be in possession of a key to the whole building... but i digress. that's another story for another time.

do you reside downtown? going to any upcoming shows?

This December??!! Like in a couple of months? Holy cow! Congrats! You staying in Madison? Want my advice? Stay in school for as long as you can and ENJOY IT!!! Go to Grad School. Major? Wait let me guess...Education? Nursing? OK, give up.

I live by near the hospital, across University Ave. Up on Farley.

Shows? Unfortunately, due to budgetary cutbacks I will have to live vicariously through people such as yourself and the rest of Obner. But, you never know, If there's one you think I shouldn't miss PLEASE let me know. I'll go and sell my spleen or something.

BTW, I've lived in Madison since '00. And I do love it until 'round about late Jan. thru Early March.

this december, yes, although it's been a long time coming. i took last year off to work in iowa, and with that and some academic travails, i've been on the 6.5 year plan. i'll have a history degree with an emphasis on european studies, and i want to go to law school eventually, so yeah - you have good advice. :)

i live on the near-east side, and it's great. i had originally hoped to get out of here after graduating, but my love affair with madison has been re-ignited, and i'm seriously considering sticking around at least until august.

i don't make it out to shows too much either, but i'm sure there are some good ones coming up- i'll let you know. plus, squirrgle and busty play around town every town week, so they'll probably try to get you out.

wow, that was a lot about me. i promise that will never happen again.

Beat ya! I was on the 10 year plan AND did both coasts in the process!

I play ultimate at O'keefe on Sundays. Pick up game. Your welcome to play if they let you out of the book place.

I heard that they were in town. Are they both in the same band?

Author:  fickerson [ Thu Nov 03, 2005 1:51 am ]
Post subject:

nice! i would get laughed out of town if i tried to particpate in ultimate with people who actually know what they're doing (and believe me, i've tried and it wasn't pretty), but maybe someday.

those boys play together, but i don't know if i would call it a "band," per se. they are great musicians and super fun, though.

If you saw us play you wouldn't think we knew what we were doing! I started in August I think. Thought it and I looked goofy. But now I love it! Still can't throw for shit. But, we are all there to have a good time. Kinda like Obner.

I'll keep an eye out for the boys.

Yo. Welcome. etc.

What're your favourite albums, blah blah blah...?

Author:  chowgurt [ Thu Nov 03, 2005 2:31 am ]
Post subject:

Thanks Dusty!

Funny you should ask..

My album collecting stopped around 1989/90 ish. In fact I posted a thread this morning asking Obnerians what five albums I absolutely needed to get as long as they were post 1990.

But to answer your question: (remember, pre 1990)
REM-Murmur AND Dead Letter Office
Cowboy Junkies-Trinity Sessions
Los Lobos-All of them, but have mostly listened to Just Another Band from East L.A.
The Cure-Staring at the Sea
Clash- Most of them
The Specials-Singles Collection
Stan Getz-The essential Stan Getz,
Jobim-
Howlin' Wolf- The Real Folk Blues

How am I doing?

Your ability to start multi-page threads plus the thought that we can mold you (mold you!! muuahahaha) makes your bid for "favorite newbie" in the OPA awards pretty strong.
