Hi, I'm shmoo. My real name is Eric. I live near Boston. I've been on the original CMJ board since late 2000, though it took me about a year until I really started posting a lot. I've met (old bb names): velouria, KPH, bluestar, DS Bruce Robertson, OPA!, neuroboy, mlle_XIX, Sketch, Aural Fixation, shiverhead, altruism, Indierocker30, chase, fractured_take, newt, [nico], tomcmj, Dorkestra Teacher, Spade Kitty, Charli_lady... hope I didn't miss anyone... I like music. Favorite artists constantly changing. I used to love U2, but they have let me down. Now I don't know. Maybe Radiohead, maybe Bjork, maybe Joy Division, maybe your band. If you have a band.

Hi. My name is Kevin. Once upon a time, I was kphaley454, but after an odd period of self-doubt, I changed my username to KPH and lived happily ever after. I've met most of the folks Eric has plus some others. I, too, live "near Boston," but in a separate town called Somerville. I started lurking on the CMJ board in late 1999 and began posting in the fall of 2000, when I suddenly found myself with a great deal of free time and a (at the time, still new) fast internet connection at my first, post-college job. I think my old posts used to be at least a paragraph in length and "diatribes" about music were the course of the day. The CMJ board was a unique experience for me - and still is - on the internet, as the discussions erred on the side of civility and understanding, rather than the partisan-limited thinking that characterized (and still does) the discourse of most other boards. More self-oriented stuff where I say "I": I play guitar (and "sing") in a band. I play an unbilled support role in a club and theme night in Allston, MA called Great Scott, where on Saturdays, my friends DS Bruce and Velouria do an indie-centric brand of DJ'ing at a night called The Plan. I have a job that I loathe and I have started worrying about the rest of my life. Favorite artists at the moment include: Beatles, Bjork, Bedhead, DJ Shadow, Night Rally, Sloan, U2, and Wilco, although I skew towards the "experimental" side of their catalogs. So, I'm a fan of YHF and A Ghost is Born, but not so high on Being There and AM. Oh and this: http://www.livejournal.com/~kntel KPH they haven't done a completely fullfilling record since Zooropa (and that's a stretch), although parts of the last 2 records have been alright. however, if "vertigo" is anything to judge by, the new record will continue the letdown...

Hi I'm Phil. Dorkestra Teacher on the old CMJ board. Taking a page from KPH. epa is much easier to type. Chicago Male 27 my only income is playing bass in Liquid Soul I'm interning at a recording studio, learning a lot... I like The Beatles, The Zombies, The Raspberries, Big Star, Sugar, Cheap Trick, Crowded House, The Blue Nile, Bjork, Peter Gabriel, Queen, The Police, The Grays, Jellyfish, Jon Brion, Fiona Apple, and many others. I think there are alot of great bands who happen to have board members in them. That's neat. There's also a bunch of Chicago bands that no boarders are in that you should check out. For real. The Redwalls The Changes Head of Femur Outlaw Family Band Paper Airplane Pilots (ok, they have one boarder, but he doesn't say much about anything) The M's Walter Meego I've met alot of boarders. I'll figure it out and get back to you.
