Hey there,

Another newbie here checking in. I heard about this place from scottycash and DayStar.

Basically, I'm another music obsessive with tastes that are all over the place. I started out with the usual stuff during the heydey of 'college rock' (mid 80's-early 90's), then disappeared into the jamband chasm and reappeared with interested from Aphex Twin to Phish, from Kraftwerk to Boredoms, from Olivia Tremor Control to the Futureheads, from Son Volt to Terry Riley and from Animal Collective to the Darkness.

A few factoids:

1) My most recent trip was from North Jersey to Athens, GA with my wife to see the Olivia Tremor Control reunion show at the 40 Watt.

2) Though born in PA, it's been long enough that I can say 'I'm from New Jersey - I don't expect too much.'

3) I'm 30 and married. My 3rd wedding anniversary was this past Wednesday (4/20). For my anniversary, my wife and I got in a car wreck. Apparently that's the non-traditional gift for 3 years, or so I've been told.

4) Frank Zappa - Dinah-Moe Hum is currently playing on my cd shuffler as I type this.

5) Gang Gang Dance - God's Money is my favorite new music purchase of the past month.

6) I used to build scenery for theatre and TV but got out of it a few years ago. I'm now dwelling in your standard North Jersey cube farm.

7) My drink of choice is Don Julio Anejo Tequila - but Captain Morgan Spiced Rum & Lime Coke is a fine backup.

8) The next show I'm seeing is The Boredoms in NYC. I'm enjoying my last few weeks of hearing between then and now. I'm beyond stoked to be finally having a chance to see eYe & co.

Anyway, hopefully I can add to the discussions. See y'all around.

Welcome, Legume Man! I must commend you on your very noteworthy introduction. We should start a referral program now that scottycash is getting busy bringing all kindsa fresh meat onboard! Enjoy your stay and feel free to bring beer.

Welcome.

1)Awesome show. A few of us were there, too.

5)Really? I like their s/t album and was thinking about picking this up. I've got one track from it, and it's pretty cool.

8)I'm jealous.

Nice to have you around!

So it's like to old Impossible Mission game on the Commodore 64 - "Stay a while, staaaay foreveerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr"?

Excellent. My usual home on the web has become something of a toolshed lately and it was definitely time to branch out.

I got 'sloan's' recording of the show off of dimeadozen last week. It sounds great. I can actually hear more of the show on the recording than I could at the actual 40 Watt. It had something to do with the fact that I was rear of house left - back in the drunk tank, essentially. Most of the people back there were louder than the band, but I was too lazy to move around too much.

Sloan - over at the E6 Townhall has been pretty quick on turning around the recent Circulatory/Instruments/OTC shows. Now we just have to wait for Kelly to get back from the UK with the recordings of the Garage and ATP shows.

Thanks for the exhuberant welcome everyone. And oh yeah - I DO like lists...so this place should be just fine.
