Should users be able to delete their own threads once others have posted in them, or should this power be reserved for Moderators?

I don't know what I'll do if I can't delete. It's unamerican if you can't.

I think: You should only be able to delete if nobody has replied.

Not posts, entire threads.

It's your THREAD, your idea/thoughts, you should have the option of deleting it if, say, you got the answer you needed for a question, etc.

I say let folks delete just because I for one get online drunk often and post some drunken bs.

If the thread took off and was embarassed about it the next day it would be like a bad drunken moment replayed over and over that I couldn't get rid of.

One raging alcoholics opinion.

But then you get a situation like before where we had a great thread going, but since What'shisname didn't like the direction he put the kibosh on it. Not cool.

I'm for the right to choose, (deletion of) your own thread.

The decision is between the author, God and your obner.

Just sayin.

Once you post, you post. If anything, only individual posts should be allowed to be deleted, not entire threads. But moderators should have the ability to delete threads or posts that are completely inappropriate, and by that I mean a standard on which we all seem to agree.

If I had to vote completely one way or the other, I would say no deletion.

Yes, if a person were really that upset they could ask a moderator to delete an entire thread.

I say users should be able to delete threads. I say we crush the elitism of moderator only deletion and give the power to the people.

Dude, aren't you ahead in the moderator poll? You're fighting against the power that you may ultimately become. Talk about hubris...

Just making sure I have less work to do as a moderator, while still having the status...

i think you should be able to delete your threads.
i posted that thing about my girlfriend's ex on the CMJ board and it ended up attracting some unnecessary attention.
i deleted it and i was glad i could.

Common sense wins out.

Just be sure not to explicitly title your thread.

Correct: "I've a Nit to Pick with a Certain Someone. Come Watch!"
Incorrect: "Haqdiesal's a fuckin' Ghey prick-wad and I Strongly Suspect that he is Homosexual in his Spare Time "
