Some bits and bobs from a busy weekend booting. I saw a huge box of CDs in the back of someones car
and asked to have a dig through, wondering how much they were she said "whatever, 25p each - 5 for a quid"
I pulled out some Eno, Beatles, Hendrix, Bonzos etc and there were about 50 so I offered £10 and she said
"oh for Christsakes just have the lot for a tenner!" so I came away with a lot of the buggers but I'm going to have
to do a cheap CD stall at a car boot somewhere as I now have instant stock!

the odd singles

early 70's German Pop

I now have Freds' old copy of this Easy Listening EP

Image

How nice to find a train record I didn't already have!

Goth Rock on Motherkare Records

Image

In with several other mostly UK FX albums was this weird US one

Image

Image

I picked up another Mikron Theatre LP earlier this year, this is one from a couple of years later,
originally only available by narrowboat

Image

Image
Nicest find of the day was this 12" from 1986 with 3 different versions of the Dr Who theme in a fancy hologram sleeve

I popped over to Milton Keynes yesterday to paint the loo in the CRMK studio
and couldn't help but make a few stops en route, including some finds in Northampton.

Image
Wandering around town I spotted some fella fixing his car on the roof of a cafe next door to a furniture store.

These 2 x EMI promo LP's were in the same box in a Northampton charity shop,
I can only assumed they had a lovely day out at the EMI factory, I know I would have.

Image

Image

Image

Image

the tracklist

Side One
1. Queen - We Are The Champions
2. Kenny Rogers - Coward Of The County
3. Cliff Richard - Wired For Sound
4. Diana Ross - Why Do Fools Fall In Love
5. Bob Seger - Hollywood Nights
6. Iron Maiden - Run To The Hills

Side Two
1. Hot Chocolate - Everyone's A Winner
2. The Stranglers - Golden Brown
3. Kate Bush - Wuthering Heights
4. Simon Rattle - Jupiter (classical)
5. Olivia Newton-John - Physical
6. Sheena Easton - Nine to Five

Although this is an American pressing I'd never come across this old Northampton based metalworks company LP before.

There is nothing left of Timken's now but the old factory gates remain.

Image

a couple of 7"s turned up in MK

Image

The godawful Agora building in Wolverton, MK (some architects idea of how we would shop in the future)
is thankfully doomed to be demolished at some point soon.

Image

Image

I didn't expect to pick up these 2 x 25p goodies in not bad nick

Image

I finished my dig with a coffee in the local cafe - this was the site of my dads first 2nd hand shop in the early 70's,
yes that probably explains where I get it from!

Odds and ends from an early morning digging trip to a wet field in Northamptonshire.

Image
Electronic-Classical-Prog for men with beards by Hodgson & Simpson.

Image
Electronic-Musique-Concrète for schools by Daphne Oram & Vera Gray.

Image

Music composed for 'The Womens League of Health & Beauty' by Barbara Furniss,
it is signed on the back and came with a live show programme.

Image

Image

Super to find this great album by Jellyfish but the sleeve was well tatty, luckily the 2 x vinyls are dandy.

Image

I was pleased to turn up some sweet sevens all on the same stall, the same woman always turns
up with dozens of boxes of LPs (£2 a pop) and 7"s for 50p always has unusual stuff.
I also pulled clean and tidy Jeff Beck, Zeppelin, Clash albums

I've had a good dig this morning but one record related thing I did find - for a pound!?! was this old 12" x 12" box
dated 1929 with the stamps and address etc, it's in lovely condition for it's age, I guess these were usually just
thrown away as I can't find any info on a similar box ont net. It's a keeper tho as I can put 78's in it!

Got this at Creep Records in Philly last weekend. 14 bucks for sweetly colored double LP, featuring Pinhead Gunpowder, Downfall, Jawbreaker, and a bunch of other early 90s East Bay goodies.

Image

If the picture is huge I apologize. But it's a fun cover to look at anyway!

This seems to be more hoarding than "finds"

various vinyl finds over the last week or so

Image

I won this in a mixed lot at a local auction, there were other nice bits in the box but this was the funkiest by far

Image

Image
A w/l private press with flute/folk/choirs, I couldn't find any other info on it like date or label so a bit of a mystery

Image
This is the 3rd one I have in this Occultia series, with a bit of luck/stars in allignment etc I may find the other 9

Image

This French disc was in with the auction lot, a 10" disc in a 12" sleeve and a fancy tri-fold sleeve,
this is the first diseased organs record I have ever come across, errrrr....

Image

A car boot turned up a pile of flexi-discs in an envelope which included the debut release by Rolf Harris from 1959

Image

along with 4 copies of a promo gatefold sleeved clear square flexi by the Humph

Image

Image

Image

Best find of the week was this 25p gem which was only in VG condition with a cracking B side

some bits I picked up at the fair yesterday and at the car boot in the morning

Image
An odd live LP, kinda Bonzo's lite from '79 with sleeve notes by Jim Davidson,
I assume the last track on it Robert E. Lee is not the same fella name checked on Roxy Music's Virginia Plain but it might be!

Image

Medi-Evil filth from Geoff Scarr "the immoral bard of Hull" according the rear, phwoar etc.
Image

Image

Some gay folk singing erm Gay Folk, on Folkways (unfortunately not Gay Folkways)

Image

the two albums below were in the same £1 box

Image

Image

Image

I already have another copy of this Japanese Linear Tracking picture disc which also has a proper card sleeve.

Image

Image
Set of 3 Open University pre-school discs from '77 - disc 2: Making Music is the best of the bunch

Image

Best buy at the car boot was a whole box of 60's 7"s which I leisurely picked from as no-one there was interested in the records
he said he wanted 25p each but I was happy to push 30 notes in his hand, I left dozens of Cliff singles but bagged the EP's and
they are all in beautiful condition!

Image

Image

The record fair turned up this curious 78rpm, I'll probably stick it up on ebay or summat....

recent vinyl finds and OK like I actually need more, but at least I'm choosy!

Image

48 years too late and I could never have foreseen picking this LP up until now.
It has elements of the Zodiac : Cosmic Sounds album but is not half as trippy.

Image

These 2 soundtrack albums turned up in one of the boxes from the lot with the pink box I picked up a few weeks ago.

Image

Image

Image

Image

I'm glad I took a pound punt on this at the car boot on Sunday.

Image

Image

This old record carrier was literally full of Cliff Richard singles, she let me have it for 50p and thankfully she kept the records.

Image

Image

Image

On another stall I found a couple of singles by local hometown bands, alas that is not David Tibet's Coil.

Image

Image

Image

2 x charity shop finds in Milton Keynes last week, the JJP 7" has Moog Indigo on the flip

Image

Image

This single pressed all my buttons, groovy SFX, BBC freebie, just a shame it wasn't a flexi too!

7"s of pleasure picked up from a misty field in Northants at 7am (I was a bit late!)

Image
This pressed all my buttons and is a pretty catchy tune that Chas & Dave would have been proud of : download

A woman who has been clearing out her husbands vinyl for quite a while at the boots now turned up
with lots of boxes of LP's which most folks fell on, but I went for the singles. I don't think I missed much
with the albums, there were some Reggae but they were very tatty so I was happy at £3 for these demos.

Released to celebrate Spurs FA Cup final (going on to win 1:0 against QPR after replay) in 1982, the gold flexi is a nice extra.

Well I walked into my local record shop and they had a bunch of RSD stuff clearanced so I got:

Ben Lee - Big Love 7"
Tough Age - Plays Cub's Hot Dog Day 7"
The Sunrays - Our Leader/Won't You Tell Me 7"
Future Islands - The Chase 7"
Miss Tess & The Talkbacks - One Match Fire
Pujol - Circles 7"
Supergrass - Sofa (Of My Lethargy) 7"

and some Waylon Jennings 7" my wife picked out. I can't say for certain what the original price was for these on Record Store Day, but I think I got a good deal at 17 bucks.

It's nearly the end of the booting season but some odd things are still cropping up in fields like this lovely 10"
private pressing still in it's original mailer from 1961 which I had never seen or heard of before this morning.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

There is a UK version of this compilation recorded by Alan Lomax on Topic but this is the US
issue on Caedmon, it has some great tunes including the classic Cruising Round Yarmouth

Image

Image

In the same £1 box as the SoS album above were these poetry & song compilations released on Argo in 1968

Image

Image
The only 7" I picked up this morning was this pretty pervy Glam groover from '73, it shoulda/coulda been a hit!
There is no Youtube available so if you wish to hear it download it here
the B side Action Man is an early Giorgio Moroder writing/production credit.

Image

An amusing 50p addition to my football records collection, Denis Law pictured top left poses like a pro!

Image

Image

that all important tracklisting in full

Image

Image

I nearly left this as it looked a bit tatty but the vinyl was excellent and it turns out to be a fine find.

I was pleased to see the woman with the unusual singles turn up at Holcot car boot, for the last time this year she said.
I had my pick of the 7"s and even bought a couple of LP's off her, in fact 95% of these came from her 50p boxes.

Image
early 80's promo re-issue

Image
There was a whole load of EP's by The Beatles & The Stones but this was the best of the bunch

some of the odder singles I had not come across before

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

as well as the EP's there were a lot of other Stones singles

Image

Image

Image

I'm always happy to pick up a flexi I don't already have and this was one of them.

Image

Image

Image

I have several US/UK vinyl space records but this was the first Russian one I had come across before,
it's a 7" in an 8" wide sleeve and was released to celebrate Yuri Gagarin's flight into space.

Image

Image

Along with some Medicine Head and Earth Band albums this soundtrack from 1972 was the best find.

album odds 'n' sods from 2016's penultimate early start and yes it's a bit dark but that's why the car boot god invented torches

Image

I found all these albums on the same stall run by a guy called Alan. I even managed to persuade him to consider coming to doing a show
on CRMK and he was excited at the thought of playing stuff he finds at car boots. He was a lovely fella and he certainly knew his stuff also
kindly gave me a 50p each deal on this mix of cheese, Folk and Moog.

Some bits 'n' bobs on a short trip to The Lakes mid-week and some LP's from last Sundays very, very last local car boot.

Image

The perfect album to find on a Cumbrian dig, this was found in Silloth with another copy of the Daphne Oram
electronic dance LP for schools I'd picked up earlier in the year.

Image

Image
A musical comedy mix featuring members of The Scaffold with Neil Innes & friends.

Image
Sole solo effort by Barbara Mullaney aka Rita Fairclough aka Barbara Knox aka Rita Tanner and possibly others.

Image
I paid £6 for this at the car boot, the guy wanted £10 but that tear on the sleeve edged it for me,
I was more than happy that the vinyl was in super condition.

Image

Sweet, signed folk album of canal songs and stories.

Image

Image

I must suffer from some strange ailment that forbids me to leave such albums as these in 50p bins,
maybe i just need to give them a good home?

Image

Image
50p blown on this US Riverside Jazz album from 1956 with nice vinyl but a tatty sleeve.

Image
Another cheap find, I never even knew there was a JD album, turns out to be movie dialogue and sadly not songs.

Image
This mid 70's R&R album on the oddly named Throstle Nest label came signed on the rear with a signed pic of Dave inside.

The boots may be over for the year but the charity shops are still coming up trumps.

Image

I have never come across one of these EP's before until I saw one at a friends house the other week.
The Blue Cat was not called King Buster but King Buxton despite what the rear of the sleeve claims!

Image

I hit the motherlode of Lebanese music at the tip shop on Thursday, I couldn't resist the charms of the 50p Belly Dance albums.

No doubt much rarer were the albums I found on my trip round the charity shops in town during the week,
including these 2 albums appropriately sitting next to each other...

Image

Image

I was gobsmacked to come across these 2 for 49p each (!?) at the Help The Aged shop!

I won a box of around 50 LP's including Miles, Groundhogs, Gentle Giant, Beefheart etc for £80 at the auction recently,
which included some really nice gems in great nick including a whole run of 70's Herbie Hancock albums.

Image

A couple of picks from the lot

Image

Image

I was best pleased with this excellent pink upgrade for my old palm Island copy!

Image

the charity shops were not so kind this week except for this VG copy in a 50p bin

Image
Yugoslavian Prog from 1975 and of course I bought it for the cover

Image

49p for this unusual Punk & Avantgarde compilation from 1980

It does exactly what it says on the sleeve

The best and most unusual find of the week was this album from 1975 complete with booklet.

The Miles Davis track from Bitches Brew is a stand-out on this Quad comp.
