aka everyone.

I seem to recall some peoples here that really know their stuff. Looking to make a mix called Around The World in 80 Tracks. So, if you know of a great song that's by an artist in a small/random/non-anglo country that would be good for such a thing, I am ready to listen. Currently I'm sifting through the charts on RYM but I know obner is a great resource as well. Teach me, oh learn-ed ones.

I like all three of these songs. I don't have anything for Italy yet, aside from maybe some Ennio Morricone, so we shall see. Thanks!

I'm finding a ton of cool stuff, but it's also aggravating to get to a country (like Sweden) with multiple favorites and having to choose.

I'm a big fan of Sublime Frequencies, collection of obscurities from Algeria to Vietnam. http://www.sublimefrequencies.com/store

I love Khun Narin from Thailand.

The new Una Bèstia Incontrolable record is awesome. Spanish punk band.

Oh, I was reading your comment and thinking that you STILL didn't have anything from Italy. Oops.

Well I think I've got 53 out of 80 countries accounted for, and a lot of what I don't have have yet are the places where I'm spoiled for choice (US, UK, Canada, Australia). Also probably should mention India, Israel, and Austria as I don't know where to begin with those countries.

Falcao's Rock me Amadeus can cover Austria.
Avishai Cohen from Israel put out one of my favorite albums last year, but not sure if you want jazz tracks.

Listening to Avishai Cohen on Spotify right now. I like it, though they don't have his album from last year. Still on the lookout for cool stuff from:

India
Netherlands
Portugal
Switzerland

Oh, and the US and UK, which I suppose are interesting discussions on their own. Like, if you could pick one track to represent America's contribution to the world of music, what would you choose?

Avishai Cohen has a song called "Song For Mark"!!! So we definitely have a winner there. Although I think I like his song "Smash" a bit more, because it's more raucous and the bass stands out a bit more.

And yes, there's very little hip-hop overall, so something like Sir Mix-A-Lot's "Baby Got Back" wouldn't be out of the question.
