The New Pornographers Set Twin Cinema For Late August; Matador Ad Rejected by Paste

Matador adoptees The New Pornographers are set to release their third LP (second for Matador), Twin Cinema, August 23rd. New Pornographer Carl (that's A.C. to you pal) Newman reported back in January that recording and mixing was going very well and that fellow scribe Dan Bejar (Destroyer) had been making several appearances at the recording sessions, because we all know a New Pornographers record without Bejar would signal the end of humanity as we know it. The rocking title track off Twin Cinema is available now as an MP3 over at Matador HQ, so definitely hit that shit up for some gooey summery goodness.

The band has set a handful of dates for June and will hopefully be announcing more as the summer drips ever onwards. Matador also reports that New Pornographer Todd Fancey is set to release a new EP sometime late next month on March Records.

In other interesting Matador news, the label is currently having issues with high-brow music magazine Paste, who have refused to run an ad for Stephen Malkmus' upcoming opus, Face The Truth. Just in case your browser isn't loading the picture to your left correctly, let me describe: the ad in question prominently features a very healthy young blonde gently caressing her nether regions. She's wearing what appears to be a green polyester suit (is that a boobie?), but apparently the ad is still deemed too risque for such a high-brow monthly. Matador promptly responded to Paste with a genuinely heartwarming, "Fuck you."

She's My Rushmore Max:

06.23.05 - Hoboken, NJ Maxwell's
06.24.05 - Lancaster, PA Chameleon Club
06.25.05 - Brooklyn, NY Prospect Park
06.26.05 - Northampton, MA Pearl Street

Twin Cinema tracklist:

1. Twin Cinema
2. The Bones Of An Idol
3. Use It
4. The Bleeding Heart Show
5. Jackie Dressed In Cobras
6. The Jessica Numbers
7. These Are The Fables
8. Sing Me Spanish Techno
9. Falling Through Your Clothes
10. Broken Beds
11. Three Or Four
12. Star Bodies
13. Streets Of Fire
14. Stacked Crooked
