i'm always optimistic about wood, each season/start thinking this will be the start of his badass destiny, each time either giving up 5 runs to the reds in the first inning or getting hurt. he has had great outings, but he's terribly inconsistent. never won 15 games. and now he's hurt more than he pitches.

What a shit game that was. Has Blaine Neal pitched more than 2 solid innings all season?

ha ha, you got him from us for Adam Hyzdu, who, believe me, has not been much better. He actually hit a double last night and drove in three runs, but usually he just strikes out.

isn't adam hyzdu like 35 or something and he's been on the sox farm system for awhile. time to look for another career.

also, i think the trainwreck of a team called the new york yankees is the funniest thing is baseball this season.

From the West:

The Dodgers are for real, I hate that team. I thought it was suppose to be San Diego’s year, maybe another time. The Giants loss of their closer changes everything, otherwise they would be OK even without Bonds.

Moneyball has to work somewhat. It doesn’t bring rings but the A’s are in second place and will be battling the Los Angeles Angels all years but with half the payroll.

The Phillies are frustrating to watch as usual. They seem like a solid team on paper yet they never seem to translate it into wins. I'm hoping they turn it around and be a bit more consistent. This win one-lose one-win one is like pulling teeth.

I wish they would go ahead and trade Thome and his annoying "carefree" attitude.

Yeah, and I hope it takes him a while to return. The Phillies have this youngster by the name of Ryan Howard who will replace him in a the line-up until he returns. Remember this kid's name.

Speaking of baseball stories, I thought this was quite funny.

Quote:
Ducks relief pitcher and former major leaguer John Rocker, who has a long history of run-ins with fans, had another on Tuesday when he took offense to comments made to him by a Surf fan.

In his third appearance in the Atlantic League, he gave up two runs on two hits and walked two in the fifth inning to take the 2-1 loss.

As Rocker walked into the dugout, Dave Macken, a Surf fan sitting near the visitor's dugout, yelled: "It's a long way from Atlanta."

Not that Rocker needed any reminders, but according to Macken, Rocker said: "I'm still a millionaire and you're a piece of shit."

Macken, an Atlantic City resident, countered with, "You suck."

According to Macken and fans in the area, Rocker's retort was: "Suck this."

Eaaaasy. Thome is still a beast when healthy. You knocked the Mets around pretty good last night. The Phillies usually have a month where they are red hot and look like they will contend. Better to suck early and get better than be in it and then fall apart.

Hilarious. This guy is the definition of MEATHEAD. I loved him when he was throwing 100mph heat and makin folks look dumb, before he opened his mouth.

He obviously has lost touch with reality. I mean the ATLANTIC CITY SURF?!?! If you can get folks out in that league it's time to hang em up.

Mike Hampton has been the most dominant pitcher in baseball since last July 4. So of course I go to my first Braves game of the season last night and dude gets LIT UP.

I responded by doing the same.

You GA folk remember when 99.7 used to have a braves relief pitcher as a guest DJ a lot? First one I recall was Wohlers (they called him Woh-Daddy), and he'd come on and sheepishly talk about baseball, music, whatever. He was cool. Then they got Rocker on, and all the fuss was about him being cute, and a hit with the ladies. He was pretty articulate. But then when he started making headlines the wrong way, segment over.

Well, he's a Braves fan. He'd even go as far as to say that Andruw Jones is still an all-star.

Hell yeah. The funniest thing I ever heard on that segment, or on that station for that matter, was when they asked Rocker about who was most well endowed on the team. They were saying "hey, you know, not for nothin but your around the locker room, what's up?"

He responds by saying "Well I don't really pay attention but we don't call Eddie Perez the Big Doogan for nuthin".

I have thrown that name into conversations occasionally ever since.

I think the NL West is going to be a four horse race until the end. The Padres are bound to heat up (so they keep saying) and the Dogs and D'backs will cool. The Giants...well, I guess it all depends if another one of those geriatrics breaks himself. Plus, Schmidt doesn't seem to really have it like he did last year (as of yet).

Do all MLB pitchers have nightmares about their managers telling them they've been traded to Colorado? Just curious.
