just curious to see what sort of setup he's touring with this time around. I know there's cellist or something on the bill with him so i'm sure that'll happen, but I guess I just wanna know if I should get there early enough to see the prelim. stuff or just go to a bar and pregame tonight.

He mainly just played with Peter Hodges (bass), but he had a string player (violin, I think, couldn't see her that well) for a few songs.

If Shearwater is opening, you should get there in time to check them out. The singer and I think one other guy are also in Okkervil River. I'd never heard them before, but I liked their set enough to by their most recent EP.

while drinking during] the show about the dude's drunken, abusive stepfather would be fun i'm pretty sure i can just get drunk beforehand. It always pisses me off to see people with 40s in the church, not in any religious sort of way, but because people always fucking leave them there and that's sloppy. Plus i don't carry any bags or shit to try and sneak that in with. i shoulda just loaded up the flask this morning.

Jewels, i'll keep an eye out for the david cross lookin' motherfucker whilst i'm there. or if you wanna meet up i'm going to that bar right down the street beforehand. i can never remember the damn name of it.

i'm rocking this shirt right now:

You're right about that, those R5 guys work damn hard to give the all ages crowd a venue to see shows and I hate it when a few jerks ruin it for them.

I saw MG there in the fall and I thought they were great, they were only a two piece at that time.

...I think the name of that bar is the Manhattan II

Done.

I also want to add that Shearwater played an awesome cover of "The Rainbow" by Talk Talk when I saw them. That was pretty unexpected.
