From tinymixtapes:
The Oranges Band release The World and Everything In It from their basement, World holds press conference about ordeal
Take everything you know about Baltimore, Maryland and throw it out the window. Seriously. Just chuck it, alright? Because The Oranges Band, they just don't fucking care. How else could one explain the sunny melodies and bright pop tunes that the Baltimore band has put forth for the last five years? Do you think they let urban blight and a murder rate that's five times higher than New York's get them down? Hell no! They say, "Fuck you, high-murder-rate!" and "Go sit on a tack, urban blight!" Then they go and write a surf-influenced song called "Ride the Nuclear Wave," a song that will appear on their newest full length, The World and Everything In It. Then maybe they go and have a burrito or something.
The World and Everything In It has the official "street" date of June 14th via Lookout! Records and looks to be a strong contender for the soundtrack to summer. At least that's what indie rock it-boy Craig Finn of The Hold Steady has to say about the new rekkid in a lengthy write-up on the Lookout! Records site. The album was produced and recorded by serial busybody and Oranges Band front man Roman Kuebler in the band's very own basement. The Oranges Band will soon leave the basement and hit the road for a brief tour with that other indie rock it-boy, Ted Leo, for a series of dates in the states. Let's hope that the venues can handle this much rock in one night.
