They're all special in their own special ways, but I gotta go with S/E.

Though the recent reissue of CRCR has reinvigorated my system and is an absolute thing of beauty, S&E will always be the benchmark. CRCR is probably more even, but S&E is the definition of Pavement to me (signature notwithstanding).

I absolutely adore Pavement. I voted for 'Brighten The Corners' just because it has the best guitar solos and the line "this slap is a gift, because your cheeks have lost their lustre".

"brighten the corners" is what got me into music in the first place. as such, it is entitled to receive my vote.

I just picked up the CRCR reissue, which I plan to listen to tomorrow in all its glory. It's probably my favourite followed by S&E, BtC, WZ and TT.

Didn't notice when I listened. Seemed to be brilliant and shimmering, possibly one of the better albums ever.

I'll listen harder next time.

I am certainly the only one so far who has voted for Terror Twilight.

I have to say that I love that album the most.

And Carrot Rope is possibly the funnest song ever.

"Hey, little boy, would you like to know what's in my pocket or not? It's no ploy it's no gimmick."

cracks me up every time.

Plus, they say, "let's get down to brass tacks". Who says that. Honestly?

now there's two of us. all their albums are great and others are more "classic", but i always thought wowie zowie was the most eccentric and fun to listen to.

i've never understood the obsession over their early albums. i think they sound sloppy, and not in a good way. i think that some of the later/more polished stuff actually did more for the songs

Did it need to be three sides? And must those progtastic urges be indulged?

Sigh.

I will see if I can dig it out and listen again. It's been a few years.
